Well mine's "The Bongo" and will stay that way. I've owned all sorts of quirky and interesting vehicles, but never felt the need to give them a name other than the one written on the back! Each to their own I suppose.

This thread reminds me of some years ago when Renault did an advertising campaign

"The Renault 5, What's yours called?"

A TV program, probably "Not the Nine O'clock News" or "Alas Smith and Jones" did a sketch with a broken down R. 5 being called all the names in creation.

My Bongo has had several names.

When the head cracked, alternator failed, when it popped a hose, sheared No 1 manifold stud, when it blew the head gasket, had starter motor problems & suffered various light related electical issues.

None of those names could be published on open forum methinks.

T'Bongo does fine on a day to day basis

Ours is "Black Tulip." I'm led to believe that back in the day black tulips were incredibly rare and sought after, but I'm pretty sure our five year old didn't know that at the time she came up with the name... Incidentally, even before we christened the van, though, we knew she was a girl.

Mine's going to be called Boris - hubby and I both came up with the same name together! Diesel and blue over silver so definitely a boy, although he'll have to get used to the flowery cushions I bought for him in IKEA last week!

He should be ready in a few weeks - really excited now! :D
