central locking

Post by nickhobson25 » Sun Oct 06, 2019 6:51 pm

hi
Just taken delivery of a 2003 bongo tintop (petrol).
Spent the day getting to know the vehicle and started removing the remains of a entertainment system and some small electronic boxes fitted to the windscreen.
The car was locking fine with the remote key fob before removing system but now its dead. You can still lock all the doors with the key in the drivers door.
I think I may have disconnected a retrofitted central locking system.
Would the car have been fitted with remote central locking originally and if so can it be reactivated?

Most have central locking from the key in the drivers door, not as many have a remote fob fitted as standard unless its an aftermarket one which may be part of an immobiliser as well, these are often fitted under the dashboard and have extra wires running to the drivers door to operate a door lock solenoid.

Oh and welcome to the group I see its your first post!

Thanks.
Well the key it's still locking all the doors from the driver's side so sounds like an issue with retrofitted remote fob system.
Pulled out a load of wires connected to the ETC system plus an entertainment system.
The radio doesn't work now but was going to replace it anyway.
Just trying to get it back to "original" before upgrading.
