Have to be a Derbyshire oatcake though, got a superb local supplier us, not wanting to start an oatcake war though.

So what's the script with Derbyshire oatcakes, never seen them or tried them, are they similar to Staffys and what do you have them with - and where's best to sample them?

The ones I had a kid which got me started on them were made in Buxton by Holmfield Bakery which was owned by an ex footballer called John Higgins who played for Bolton Wanderers. His family took over the business but it sadly closed down so now have to eat the "foreign" ones from Calver.

Calver is only about 5 miles from the Ashford/Bakewell Bongo site so I suggest we have have an "oatcake in" in October.

I wished I hadnt when I saw you trying to reverse into what was left of your pitch next to my van Was it you who reversed over the jumbo parking cone or the Gordons? (sorry that sounds as if you reversed over the Gordons )

I am hurt! No it wasn't us must have been the Gordons. We now do have parking sensors. OH made me stand behind him while he tried them out!

We'll be getting there sometime on the 17th (Tuesday), we usually leave about 4am for arrival at a sensible time to set up camp. After the bash we'll be going on to Fort William for a few days jaunt around the scenery.

You will be fine in Edinburgh Terry , no problems there. But don't forget to pick up some SMIDGE midge repellant before you get to Fort Willian. Marriane, the bongomiesters wife, was bitten very badly a a Scottish Bongo bash there a few years back. Had a servere reaction and had to go home early.
