Not leaving just yet after all!
Hello everyone,
Just thought I'd let you know that after my fairly recent promise to leave Bongo Fury (after having to change my van for a Renault Master), I have decided I just can't do it and have renewed my membership.
You've got me for another year! Aren't you lucky

Good to hear.
You can pop onto the forum any time without being a member. But you do need to be a member to drop into the Stourport bash for a Spam butty

A spam butty sounds ace - can't make it to the bash though- busy that weekend. we're going to Woolacombe in a couple of weeks though and hoping to make it to Looe in September.
Loving the Renault - it feels enormous - and we converted it ourselves so very proud of it. Doesn't mean we don't still miss the bongo, but 5 weeks in France this summer will be more spacious if nothing else.

Glad you're staying, you know it makes sense.
Re: Not leaving just yet after all!
Surely the indicators and the wiper switches are on the wrong side on a Renault?
What use is a vehicle like that?

I’ll be honest. We’ve had it for 7 months and I still indicate with the wipers. Forget to change gear a lot too
Re: Not leaving just yet after all!
Hi janie i dont know you but do you know which engine you have in your master? I work in renault in france and can give you tips and insights to your vehicle. I hope its NOT the 1.6 and if you're gonna be in france then you have to visit franche-comte and jura. They are stunning

Re: Not leaving just yet after all!
Hi - it's a medium wheel base 2298cc 2012 model. We're not going to the East of France this year (it's being discussed for next though), we're going Plymouth to Roscoff and then down the West coast (maybe with a bit of the Loire, Dordogne, etc).....we'll see where we end up.
One of the main things that we're concerned about is disabling the alarm, but locking the van while we're inside - even when we do all the stuff the manual tells us to do it still goes off sometimes (though not all the time). If you can shed any light on that it'd be super helpful.
Thanks
Jane

Re: Not leaving just yet after all!
Hi janie sorry bout the late response, been looking into the issue with your alarm and it looks like it can be one of 3 things,
1. You have a dead cell in your starter battery causing the sensor to automatically come on under 12.5v
2. Your sliding door may be the issue, if it doesnt close properly or you have alot of crap in the runners, it can cause the central locking sensors to be out and not in contact with one another by about 2mm which will re-activate the internal alarm sensors.
3. You have a faulty internal alarm isolation switch, but its most unlikely especially if the fault is intermittent.
I would advise having a good look at the sliding door runners and clean them, also where the sensor contacts meet, you can make a thin shim(peice of metal) and add that to the sensor and see if the issue goes away, also test your starter battery as renault standard batteries are the worst i have come accross so far and dont really last long.
Have a look at this post from a renault forum it may be a bit clearer for you http://forums.motorhomefacts.com/85-mot ... g-off.html.
And just so you know the engine you have is one of the better engines
Have fun in france

Great info.
If you need to make a shim a drinks can is a good bet.

Thanks for the advice - I'll have a look at the sliding door first.
