Removable rear kitchens and insurance

Post by 05gt » Fri Oct 09, 2015 11:29 am

Hi I am planning on getting an unconverted Bongo in the next few months. Just wondering what experiences with insurance people have had when adding a removable rear kitchen unit to an unconverted bongo registered and insured as an MPV, with commuting to work cover. Do you then have to get motorhome insurance? Can it still be used to commute to work etc.?

Just tell your insurance exactly what you want to do and they will arrange cover, dont make the mistake of insuring it as one thing when its realy another.
I added a small kitchen to my boot so I still have 8 seats and the log book is MPV but in the eyes of the insurance its a camper van so cost went down from £1000 to £200, but its limited miles as I have another daily driver
