Fuel tank issues

What's the MPG like? Can I use chip fat and veggie oil? What about LPG?

Fuel tank issues

Post by Buzza75 » Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:45 am

Hoping someone can shed some light. When putting diesel in my bongo, usually when the needle is just under 1/4 of a tank, the pump starts clicking at around £30. Given that the tank is supposed to hold 65 litres, this doesn't seem right. The needle only ever goes up to around 3/4 tank or just over, and I am having to refill alot sooner than I should be. Has anyone any ideas what the problem may be and how I can fix it? Also, any suggestions on how I can learn more about how to care for and carry out repairs would be good.

Thanks in advance

You have a common problem the earth on the diesel fuel tank is rusting, causes the gauge to read low all the time. Standard repair is to add an extra wire to the fuel tank and take it to the chassis, if you look at the fuel tank underneath there is a lip around the middle with existing holes, bolt on a a bit of wire to one of these holes and you will find similar holes suitable for self-tappers on the chassis itself to save drilling any holes at all.
