2 stroke oil

Did a bit of research on tinternet.....200 ml of low ash 2 stroke oil per 50 Liters of diesel. I now get a xtra 2mpg....quieter engine especially when cold and smoooooooth running......now admittedly I'm driving a more modern vehicle but it could be worth a try in the oil burning Bongo.
If anyone try's it, please give feedback.

Also lubes the fuel pump.

And if your runnng with a DPF the recycling periods will be greatly extended. ( not applicable to Bongos )

I used 2t in 2 VAg 1.9 TDi and the Bongo (30-50% rape oil) for 2015 with no discernable difference

Should I add 2 Stroke Oil to my diesel to improve its lubricity?
In short, you shouldn't. 2 Stroke Oil is designed for 2 stroke motorcycle engines, not 4 stroke vehicles. Vehicle manufacturers and fuel refining companies all agree that running 2 Stroke Oil in fuel is likely to cause complications and there have been reports of engine failures due to 2 Stroke Oil sludging up valves and fouling injectors. As fuel refineries have produced lower sulphur diesel, so too have they added lubrication substitutes to the new diesels to the point that lubrication is now even higher than that of high sulphur diesel.
The vehicle manufacturers don't recommend putting 2 Stroke Oil in your diesel...

   therefore it is a simple deduction that there is no reason to add 2 Stroke Oil to your diesel!

I wouldn't claim to know either way about the wisdom of using 2 stroke oil. Haydn strikes me as someone who reads a lot around something before deciding to experiment. Rita's comments read very much like those by Nigel Worc's in 2014 on http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... 55753&i=60.

So, I guess yer pays yer money etc.

One question i would have is whether, if there are issues linked to use of 2 stroke oil, there could be similar issues linked to using vegetable oil as fuel, since fuel companies don't (as far as i know) recomnend that either.

Phew, you could go nuts trying to get at the truth! One thing i always felt when running 20% veg oil was that the engine sounded and felt a little smoother, and i was never quite sure why that was.

I agree with you there ^^^^
I always thought my LANDROVER had a better performance when on 50/50 veg oil and diesel
And my bongo seemend to run better
I don't bother now days not a lot of difference in price
And carnt be bothered fetching in getting rid of bottles

As for if it and 2 stroke etc is better for your engines I bet it is

Could one reason for an engine sounding quieter be that there is less of an explosion taking place and consequently there will be less power developed?

I'm one who always imagines that the Bongo seems quieter and smoother on veg oil but having tried to move on from the antique measurements called miles and gallons, I've never checked the true performance.

I get enough satisfaction from partially beating the system by using as much veg oil as will let me start smoothly.

I dunno just having a laugh, and my word do we need a laugh... I was told that vag oil is a bad plan for regular use in the Bongo despite the fact it can be done.

All the extra stuff you have to check, filters etc. hardly seems worth it and why risk the damage for a few bob.
