Latest journey 36 MPG roughly (diesel)....

What's the MPG like? Can I use chip fat and veggie oil? What about LPG?

128kms - 79.5 miles (not 28kms  ) on the trip meter and that is the fuel gauge, not bad going. It does not mean a great deal I suppose as we all know needles have their own movement, slow start and then speed up etc. But nice to see.

Calculated 39.3mpg on a 630 kms round trip for this run. We had a 1 hour slow moving tailback and air con on 35 pct of the journey. Can't knock it.

Met another bongo owner not happy about mileage with Diesel. I did not enquire deeply as they might drive at 80mph and use it round town all week for all I know but they said it seemed heavy on the diesel which it would do compared with a car.

The only way to accurately work out your MPG is to brim the tank,do your journey, brim it again then work it out.
Guessing wont do it

I think bb123 is a brim2brimmer and his 1st para was just an observation made in passing. Could be wrong but...

40mpg is fairly easily achieved and yes this was a brim 2 brim and trip meter jobby. These days I know 40 is around the best I can expect (though measured 43mpg on a part journey once) so as long as when I check every now and then it is circa 36-40 I know that seems to be normal. It is largely about poodling along at 55mph on straight runs where possible. That might bore some to tears and take too long but I like the safety element and unhurried driving experience.

It will probably be my last personal mileage post as I think I have repeated myself enough now. Old news. Speaking of repetition next I will bore you with my annual late summer early autumn waxoyl treatment. In fact after a long-ish dry spell and good long run in dry conditions now will be perfect to seal the arches out before the rain due later in the week. (Zzzz... smiley)

i average 30 to 32 mpg driving at 70mph with the odd stint of 80 to takeover people driving unpredictably. 40mpg sounds appealing 55mph does not

If I am calm and relaxed I enjoy it. If I have been stuck in traffic for 2 hours or in a stop start jam then 55mph is less inviting (especially if your back gets a bit stiff and ache-y), though I rarely go faster than 60. To be honest these days 50-55mph seem pretty normal with the amount of roadworks and relentless numbers of idiotic drivers that need avoiding, the weather and lorries.

Getting 39.57 mpg on a motorway run, double dose Millers. Doing 60 Mph, that included
a 12 mile urban (off motorway) drive prior joining motorway. So 40 mpg should be easily achieved constant.

326.1kms measured (on trip and odometer)
Litres used 23.29 (brimmed to brimmed)
(Air con on 1/2 that distance)

202.6miles /5.12gallons

= 39.57mpg

That seems like a happy diesel Bongo engine still. Very happy with that kind of
return for a 22 year old van. I do try and keep the engine happy.

I have not bothered with Millers on last few fill ups and given the hot weather have had the AC on, have noticed at least 5mpg less on avg...put Millers back in today as it dropped from circa 30mpg Town and A roads down to 24-25mpg on same routes!

I've just managed 37mpg with aircon on and a short burst to 90mph on the M6 toll. Not all motorway either but mainly stayed at 60mph max and there were long stretches of 50mph speed limits on the M6. Still pretty good though :-)
