Still trying to find why power loss on hills Vacuum solenoids

What's the MPG like? Can I use chip fat and veggie oil? What about LPG?

Still trying to find why power loss on hills Vacuum solenoids

Post by PaulD » Sat Jul 04, 2020 10:19 pm

Hi All , I’m still trying to find why I have power loss on hills , I have been looking at the vacuum valves under the drivers seat , 1996 2,5 diesel , specifically the two together that are connected to the fuel pump , I’ve tested both solenoids and one works and one doesn’t when 12v are supplied , I’ve also tested the wiring to the solenoids one(white plug) has power when cold then nothing when engine is warm , the other (Black plug)doesn’t seem to have power at all, cold or warm engine , I’ve ordered a replacement solenoid but I still need to work out why I’m not getting any power to one of them , could this be the cause of my poor performance?
I also suspect the fuel injection pump , only because I’ve had to replace a few seals (external ones with pump in situ) and I’m wondering if the internal seals need replacing too ?
any guidance would be much appreciated, thanks
Paul

The black one only gets power when it's really cold, when the coolant is under about 10 Deg c if I remember right, then it turns off and the white one comes on.

Those 2 just control the Aircon rev pic up and the cold start, both pick up the revs slightly when cold or a small load is put on the engine.
