Fuel leak
Fuel leak
Please can some help? New to this and new to the bongo. I just bought a 95 diesel 2.5 4x4. I noticed a slight bubbling liquid from here when the engine is revved? The seal is leaking but is it fuel or something else and is it an easy fix. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Fuel leak
Not an expert on the diesel engine but that is the Air intake manifold and according to the mechanical diagrams there should be a a gasket 13-324 in that joint see here http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... no=.html#5 sounds as if it needs resealing perhaps ?

Re: Fuel leak
The pic shows the inlet manifold, the manifold delivers air to the engine, the air is under pressure from the turbo so any excess that the engine doesn't need is bubbling out at the joint, it has a gasket that may have failed so strip off and clean.
The excess air is probably being expelled if the manifold is restricted, this happens when oil from the turbo is dropped in the manifold and the engine heat crystallises it causing carbon build up.
It would be wise to look up the manifold and maybe strip off and clean out, not a quick job but certainly worth while as the engine will enjoy more air and improve mpg no end.
Use the search tab at the top of the forum on how to clean out the manifold.
When searching use inlet AND manifold AND clean to search for key words, it finds more past posts.
