Bongo Newbie ish

Post by TBULLDOG » Tue Oct 27, 2020 6:53 pm

Hi All
I'm not really a bongo owner but my mother has recently purchased a pop top so as her 'mechanic' I will need all the help I can get!! I thought we were doing well buying a bongo with a new cylinder head and the rear arches already done :D . But already we are having issues with the charging system and roof  . So doing my best to keep the Bongo on the road and minimising the earache..Hopefully you lots will be the source of information as its all japanese (or Russian??) to me.
Do throw too many stones I drive a vw T5.1 that is a day van, mothers Bongo is an N reg green and silver pop top with a small kitchen unit behind the back seats. She wants some more adventures before dementia (retired a few years ago...) hence the purchase of the bongo (and she can only drive automatics!!).
Be gentle..

Hi Terry

Welcome aboard. :)

Nowt wrong with a T5, we all do it for the same reasons. 8)

What are the issues, please?

Does Bongy have a split charge system? Is it just the roof not raising fully? Quiet common, and a little shove can sort the last little bit.

Is your Mum running the engine while raising the AFT?

A rough location will help us to help you.

Just county or nearest big town.
