I renewed my insurance with "2gether insurance" and I was requested to send proof of mileage and membership with Bongo Fury etc, which I did.
Last night I received an email with attachment from what appeared to be the insurers.
The attachment should not be opened - it contains a virus. I contacted the insurers an they confirmed they have a virus on their system which is doing this and their IT guys are currently trying to sort it. So if you receive something similar don't open the attachment which is disguised as a windows doc file and named Invoice.

Well done you for your vigilance and for bringing it to our attention. Shame on your insurance company though if they are aware of a virus in their system and still mailing out without warning their customers.

Hi plonkatronix,
Thanks for the very informative reply.
Some of the details I find quite alarming to say the least!
I am no IT expert but do take the security seriously.
I forwarded the mail to phising.gov.uk and was advised
they had a backlog of 1.2 million reports! So I guess nothing
will happen there.

Re: Virus Malware Be aware
Disturbing news. I am with 2gether and have been for many years. I have also, for many years, been receiving highly unwelcome calls on my mobile (a number i never knowingly agree to be given out and used). Its always a girl with an Essex'y accent who starts with "Hello. We've been told you was in an accident that wasnt your fault." When I say I wasnt and I ask where they got my number from, they put the phone down. Hmmm. Discuss?
And thanks for flagging this up.
