Thule 973
Thule 973
Well I picked up the Thule 973 from Muz on here (thanks again for meeting me half way!)
It fits perfectly. Just used it today, what a pleasure it is to use compared to my tow bar mounted rack!
My previous one was one of those yellow maypole ones which just gives two bars sticking back. The old one was ok for occasional use but was a pig to get the bikes on. It was meant for three but two adult bikes filled it. It also bounced around a lot.
The Thule is rock steady, the bike doesn't move at all. Being higher means I don't have to mess about with adding a light bar etc. It literally takes seconds now to put the bike on and off. So much easier, I hope to use the bikes a lot more now because of it.
The only thing I'm after now is an additional rail to allow me to carry 4 bikes. If anyone has a 4th bike trail and arm they don't need any more, please let me know!

Glad it works well for you. We bought that bike rack in 2010 and it has served us well in that time carrying two or three bikes all over Europe.

Managed to get a 4th bike set. I noticed one on Amazon yesterday in the warehouse deals which was a customer return with opened packaging. They were selling it for half price. But then today as part of the black Friday deals they have 20% off warehouse deals. They had also sent me a £10 gift voucher.
Ended up at about £25 delivered.

Great result Sotal. Good to see Muz's legendary bike rack finding new adventures in Bongoland

Well chuffed,
The extra rail arrived today, looked to be brand new in unopened packaging. The product itself was perfect. So all fitted to the rack.
Will be testing the rack with 4 bikes on this weekend. I imagine getting 4 on will be more of a puzzle although 3 has been easy.
Will get some photos on this time as i forgot last weekend!

Had a great trip out today. 5 bikes in total. 4 adult bikes and 1 kids bike. Along with 5 people in the bongo.
I put 3 adult bikes and a kids bike on the rack which was easy to fit. We then put one adult bike inside the bongo.
Normally we just need the ones that were on the rack.
No messing about needed, they went straight on just needed to turn the pedals to stop then fouling the next bike.
Really pleased with it, the bikes are held so securely and it is so much quicker to put them on and take them off.
