Another question I’m afraid

I hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday? Lots of people away in their bongo’s? Just a quick question based on your experiences are you better off with a fresh import or a well looked after pre owned in the U.K. (perhaps forum member owned?) bongo?

I've had a number of Bongos over the years, some straight off the boat, others pre-owned. All three new imports had high auction grades, but on 2 of them there were mechanical faults that were not apparent until inspected here in the UK. One (a V6) had a bad oil leak caused by an engine breather problem that was never properly rectified, the other (a late edition 4WD diesel) had turbo impeller issues which were eventually solved. The latest one I purchased has had no problems at all.

Of the four I bought pre-owned here in the UK, 2 had bad rust problems (which I knew about at time of purchase), but the others were all fine. Maybe I've been lucky. Buying a pre-owned Bongo privately is certainly cheaper, but (usually) you can't take it back if a fault develops.

But you generally only get a 3 month warranty from an importer dealer anyway.
