Re: Gummi Plege bonkers price increase
When I made the original post the SONAX must have been in very short supply in the U.K. as it was shipped from Germany.
Ordered 2 variants of this after nearly choking on my breakfast after seeing the cost of a Mazda AFT roof seal.
I bought a SONAX stick as it seemed ok when I used it last time, though it seems to come off on exterior foam/rubber after a few months, though not sure of quantity I found it for £9.00 on ebay. The last one from Amazon never turned up and there was no way to complain through Amazons systems. And also bought twin pack of 100mm Nextzett Gummi Plege to see what it is like. Have some light cracking on the outside edge (front corners where it probably gets the chemicals from road spray and my washer bottle regularly doused all over it) so it needs a thorough smearing over with conditioner on the next dry day.
I prefer to try and recondition the original than use cheap, ill fitting length off ebay. But the Mazda original price is .
Always little jobs to do on the Bongo to keep them good, you do need to be a bit of an enthusiast with them, at least keeping up on the smaller jobs.
Just for your info... Amazon have it for £6.46 !!! If it turns up.

Benefit from my experience... what can you do but try things eh ?
Never buy 100ml Nextzett Gummi Pflege
Totally and utterly useless on the AFT roof seal.
Looked today and it looked identical to how it did before I applied it after heavy rainfall.
Stick with the SONAX GummiPflege.

We generally use Fleischmann’s and then a slight coat of Petroleum Jelly .
PS don't go by looks , go by feel.
Take Care.

Thanks Teenmal, yes dry as a bone.. as if nothing was put on there. It is water soluble and vanishes
from the surface.
Interestingly I saw the SONAX has vaseline in apparently. "Inhalt Vaseline"
Cannot seem to find Fleischmann’s online.

An acid on rubber, for preservation ? That does not sound right to me.
Re: Gummi Plege bonkers price increase
You have probably put it inside your body with no adverse affect ( in actual fact it may have been beneficial and you don't know it), I don't think it will harm a tatty old roof rubber.BongoBongo123 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 1:48 pm An acid on rubber, for preservation ? Another tip is to use it on windscreen wiper blades.
You take care.

Re: Gummi Plege bonkers price increase
I will respectfully give that advice a miss. I will stick with the SONAX.
A quick google suggests
"Vinegar is the byproduct of fermented ethanol, a naturally occurring acid. Vinegar is hailed as a cleaning marvel, killing bacteria and removing grease and stains. Acids can slowly cause some synthetic rubber seals to deteriorate, however. Small bottle of vinegar beside lemon and baking soda."
