Sleeping arrangements

Post by 2newbies » Sat Aug 11, 2018 4:27 pm

Hi All,

After owning Daisy for 6 years, we have eventually come to the realisation that the roof is getting a little difficult to reach as we get older. So we now plan to sleep downstairs. We've always just used the middle seat facing backwards and we have a rear conversion, which is slightly l shaped up the passenger side towards the side door.

Anyway, i've now reversed the short rails so the seat can be slid back and forth. After doing this, we planned to sleep on this rear seat and the passenger and driver's seat. However, when the front seats are slid as far forward as they can, they still overlap the rear seat by around 6 inches and so won't lie flat. Is there any way for the front seats or for the back seat to be moved another 6 inches so we can deploy them for sleeping?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

The seats in any arrangement are uncomfortable.
Get a rock n roll bed.

The existing bench seat can be 'flattened' by an automotive upholsterer or some of the conversion companies. Since the bench seat was designed to butt up to the fully reclined front seat when in its original position, i.e. facing forward, possibly a swivel mechanism fitted to the bench seat would solve your problem. That would depend on clearance between the bench seat back and the bit of your conversion which comes down the nearside of the van.
Northstar Conversions market the centre seat swivel and can flatten the bench seat; they may be able to advise you further. I've no association with them, but am a satisfied customer :D
