warning light

Post by mollie » Sat Mar 24, 2018 11:31 am

Can anyone help, what appears to be a red warning light is on and I can't find out what it means! It is directly to the right of the steering wheel. I have driven several miles with no apparent ill effect, my maintenance book is in Japanese so no help there!

There's a good chance it's the 'Hold' light.

Try pressing the small switch on the gear selector, just underneath the big one you press to move the selector.

It's easy to press it without knowing. 8)

Are you sure its not the low level coolant light to the right of the steering wheel itself on the dashboard in a switch position ? If so STOP, find the cause of the leak, cure the leak, then top up the coolant and if necessary depending on level and engine you may need to bleed the coolant system of trapped air.

Good point, Geoff.

Some of the cheaper coolant alarms don't have the buzzer.

Worth noting that Ian has English language handbooks in the Bongo Shop.

Is the rear fog lights illuminated when the light is on?

Another good point, especially if you've just picked it up from MoT.

Thank you everyone for your help. Have checked and it's not the hold light, the coolant is between full and low so shouldn't be that, but will keep an eye on it. The fog light isn't on, but interestingly, some kind person reversed into the bongo when I had parked and was away walking my dog, then left without leaving a note. It has been to the garage to be repaired so maybe the two things are related, will go back to the garage tomorrow and ask them.
Also thanks for info about English language manual, I will have to buy one.
