It was a Quechua base tent, so no way to add awning straps really!Markas wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2018 12:53 pmHappy New Year Jilly,Jillygumbo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2018 10:21 am Recommend Carnon Downs Caravan & Camping Park, between Truro and Falmouth for comfort, although I had to ask to be moved after the first night when I nearly lost the quechua in the wind - only didn't because I packed it away at 2am! Even with rock pegs on hardstanding, the wind was lifting it up!
Sounds like a great adventure, a large dog does make a great hot water bottle
Have you tried adding storm straps to your awning? They're spring loaded so high winds stretch the springs instead of ripping the lot out the ground. With a drive-away you need 2 sets.

I've just googled it - brilliantly easy to put up. Found a video where the guy did it in under 2 minutes, Takes me about 20 mins to get to the same point with my Movelite CaymanJillygumbo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2018 12:52 pm

In the same video at 2.09 I thought I spotted some clips that storm straps could be attached to on the corners of the awning.

There are no clips to attach storm straps to on these base tents. In the video he struggled to open up the tent. If you peg down one corner it makes it very easy to pull the 4th corner out to make a square! Same procedure when taking down! Especially in wind!Markas wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2018 9:04 pmI've just googled it - brilliantly easy to put up. I was using it Christmas this year but not.. out, out, if you know what I mean. Need to keep them running in winter whenever it is possible, a good long run with a air con on for a bit etc. and raise roof once a month seems to do good here.
