Newest Bongos all tin tops?

Post by Eye Guy » Fri Dec 15, 2017 11:12 am

Hi All,

My 1997 AFT bongo is succumbing slowly to the Scottish weather and the dreaded rust. I am mulling over a newer version.

I am aware that production ceased in 2005, and thus the newest Bongos are registered as 2006. What I am wondering is...are all 2005/6 Bongos tin-tops? as these are all I have seen. Or did production of the AFT continue until the end? If AFT production did cease earlier, what is the newest AFT I could expect to find?

I quite like having the roof. I know you can get after market ones fitted to a tin-top but that's a whole other conversation

Cheers for any info.

2 itre petrols with AFT were made up to October 2005, diesels with AFTs up to August 04. But these later models are very rare.

Hi all,
I've had a few Bongos over the years and been fascinated by the info available on the internet. My current Bongo, a tin top, is SGEW607124.

According to the Russian website this was manufactured on 08/11/2005, and first registered in Japan in February 2006.

I believe the last Bongo made was SGEW607311 on the first of December 2005.

That suggest there were only another 187 made after mine.

Does anybody have the last Bongo ever made or is it in a Museum in Mazdaland?

Best regards, Roy.

What Russian website did you use as the last one I checked no longer existed.
