Bongo Fury

Happy with that, I requested that high quality parts be used as Bongo is non ABS (ADL Blueprint disks and ADL front pads and Delphi pads on the rear)
I can see they were all done, looking nice a new/shiny (with slightly criss cross scored disks).

I think the price seemed reasonable given decent quality parts.

Sounds good bb123. Out of interest, do the brakes feel much different?

Hi Mike they don't at the moment no. I guess they might have a coating on them at the mo and need
to bed in over a few 100 miles (I go easy on brakes anyway so it'll be no different than normal).
But foot pedal pressure/feel is virtually identical. I can see the disk hubs are painted grey which is a
good thing.

Maybe I should have had the brake fluid done as well. I may get that done in the future though I do recall
that there are receipts for it in the Bongo folder from the previous owner.

I think if my eyes caught them right in the fading light that the rear disks are dual disks as well as the front.
(Could be cause it is rear wheel drive)

P.S. I suspect of greatest consequence is how they perform when you slam the anchors on on the M-Way
and whether the disks and pads glow red and brake fade ensues, or they pull you up in a controlled and sharp
manner.

Just to follow up Mike yes the brakes are definitely more effective than they were, now feel like a 25-30pct improvement in feel. They seem to "bite up" a bit more early, giving a feeling of confidence they are done and in tip top condition now.

The quality of the new pads and discs will have an impact - very much a case of you get what you pay for in my view. Plus when the new ones were fitted the slider bolts and guides will have been cleaned and lubricated. Siezed sliders - particulaly on the rears are one of the main causes of brake problems. On my daily Suzuki I grease the sliders every 6 months to keep them in good order (experienced siezed slider in the past - new caliper time). I'll be doing the same maintenace to the Bongo as its only a one hour job when you know what you are doing.

Yes it is good to know basics, did brakes once with a friends help a long time back but these days awkard hill to work on here.. Bongo is a big old lump to lift etc. and the locals chaps do a decent job for a fair price. Help keep them in business and they are there when you need them.

Anything cooling related would have to go specialist but for a lot of the consumable type work local seems ok.

I just had new discs and pads on the front, having bought the Bongo with horrible judder on braking from I guess warped discs etc.....it really was bad. I usually fit my own stuff for jobs like this but did not fancy lifting the Bongo's weight in my garage.....so I had my local chap put them on for £80. The braking is so much improved and no more shake! Very happy, just the wheels to be reconditioned and we're all done for some adventures!

Seems reasonable. Would not be much fun in these temperatures unless you have a nice heated garage.

I do, but it's full of other mechanical toys!
