cambelt
Hi Was reading recently that cambelts should be changed every 5 years even if the mileage is not done.
Does this apply to the bongo ?
I have only done 30,000 miles since the last change just over 4 years ago.
Should I be thinking of a change?

Yes.
It's 60,000 miles OR 5 years, whichever comes first.
This really isn't something to skimp on as the consequences of it breaking will be dire. Read £££££££
It's not a massive job on the diesel, V6 is more involved, and there's a list of other bits worth doing at the same time while the front of the engine is appart.
Hope that helps.

Re: cambelt
Thanks bob
I will get it arranged in the not so distant future.
Out of interest what are the other bits you mention that could be done.
Mine is 2.0 ltr petrol.?

Re: cambelt
On the V6 it's the tensioner/idler and water pump from memory (mine's diesel) and I'm not that familiar with the 2ltr.
Hopefully someone will have some thoughts, or if you're using a Bongo Friendly garage they will be able to advise.

Oh comments, that's just made me think Feb 2013 @ 157,000 Kms was when ours was done, its now up to 207,380Kms and Feb 2018 is only 6 months away

The cam belt change on the 2L is much the same as the 2.5 TD,you would normally change the Belt/Tensioner and Spring, its a 20/30 minute job for a Mechanic.
Good Luck

Re: cambelt
My 2.0 Ltr petrol cam belt recently broke after only 45,000 mls.Replaced belt & tensioner,as Rita says only 20-30 minute job,but will certainly replace sooner next time.

Re: cambelt
Hi
Had the cambelt tensioner spring idler all changed.
The first garage I went too wouldn't do it .
The second said yes and charged £124 for fitting the kit I supplied.
Took it for the MOT failed on exhaust and emissions.
They couldn't get a an exhaust.!!!
I found one on the net and they fitted it,now passed.
This was last week.Today went out and it's misfiring.
So fitted new plugs and leads check the rotor arm.
Pouring with rain been out still misfiring.
Lit the fire- got a drink- think on it till tomorrow.
