I've just insured the Bongo with a Carole Nash classic camper policy which give breakdown cover for UK and Europe to quote their blurb - All campervan insurance policies through Carole Nash come with some great benefits as standard:• Cover campervans valued up to £40k if ungaraged• Up to 10,000 mileage limit (1)• Will cover modern modified vans• Fixtures and fittings covered (3)• Free agreed value (2)• Most modifications considered• Salvage retention rights (2)• Owners club discounts (1)• Limited mileage discounts• Up to 180 days of European cover• UK and European accident and breakdown recovery included in the price of £320 with commuting £260 without. My Lifesure was £299 to renew without many of those benefits .

We have the personal cover option that covers my wife and I in any vehicle and pay about £12 a month.
Thanks for that. At the moment I'm looking at GEM because I can recover to a bongo specialist in the area if necessary. Just gotta call Lifesure for comparison.
I think the breakdown cover through Lifesure is with GEM? [edit] oops. It was 2gether that sold me GEM not Lifesure  ignore my rambling

I already have an ongoing insurance policy with Lifesure. It is the RAC breakdown cover that is up for renewal. £189 quoted. Lifesure have quoted £95 2 drivers one vehicle, max 6 call outs a year. GEM quoted £110 (Extra) and £81 (Reclaim). That's unlimited call outs any vehicle 2 drivers. I think GEM may have it. Looking up the new Sarah one, never heard of it.

Oh boo - Sarah Nash can't give me a quote online due to the specialist nature of the vehicle. I hate talking to insurance companies! And there's a lovely misspelling on their website !

Looks like 100 quid in the camping fund, then. :D

Huge saving for a few phone calls. 8)

If you just need UK breakdown cover without Europe, Autoaid Breakdown charge £41 a year - covers you and partner if live at same address and any car you're driving - breakdown, recovery and homestart.

You have to pay for recovery (on credit card) and then reclaim. Always paid us back promptly.

Worked well for us - a recovery from Isle of Skye to Bristol - but now have "free" cover in UK & Europe through my nationwide bank account
