Servicing Equipment Register

Post by haydn callow » Fri Mar 28, 2008 4:27 pm

Would it not be a good idea for all us DIY Bongoer's to put together a list of "special" equipment we are happy to "lend" out to other Bongoer's in their area.
I will start with Somerset :- Pela pump...workshop manual.....selection of tools/sockets etc....multi meters and more.
Problem is, as I see it this Topic will get lost off the "bottom". of the page over time. How do we keep it alive ? Should we have a area co-ordinater?
Just thoughts but it seems daft me sitting here with a pela pump and then someone else 10 miles away spending £40 just to use once to change his ATF

No. I reckon we see what response this gets, and then move to "Rest of the West". And then set something up for each regional group.

Yes, sounds sensible to keep it local. I wont be going to Cornwall for a particular spanner, for example 8)

Sounds like a good idea ,I'm in Glasgow,so a bit far from you.
I have a fair amount of tools .What could be a problem ,is if something borrowed is damaged when loaned out .
Need some kind of policy on this .
Be a bit hard to enforce though.
ALSO COULD EXTEND TO OTHER ITEMS, LIKE A LITTLE SELF HELP COMMUNE.
The other side of the coin is that some people just take not give .
Unfortunately this is just human nature.

Anything lost or damaged would have to be replaced or paid for.
Help/advice is a good idea.
The takers would soon be sussed.
If anyone brings their Bongo to me I would be happy to show them the basics and how to do simple tasks.
I think it would be good for the Bongo community and worth a try.
I already get at least a phone call a week from some lost soul. Usually sort somthing out.
What about making it a rule that the value of the item be deposited and 100% returned when the item is returned as was.
If it is a rule then there is no embarassment on either part.
So if you want to use my Pela Pump leave £40 when you pick it up and I will give you the same £40 back on it's safe return. Got to be a good thing.

Yep,
that could be the way forward Haydn.
This sounds like a really good idea, if we can get it off the ground.
Any help you need up this neck of the woods ,i'll be happy to lend a hand.
