That looks a brilliant job, can't quite figure out what you're using the forward unit for but anyways.
If you had the time / interest, I'd consider buying a set of the units under & behind the gullwing seats from you! Are they easily removable?

Re: Partial oil change
I do every second one with the pela, and change the filter when I'm draining via the sump.

Re: grinding noise help
If you stop and put full steering lock on in either direction, and drive in a tight circle - any noises then?

Did you happen to note the bulb designation or number or anything? Do they matter which way around you fit them?

Nope, the way the temperatures have been again mine has been fine. It's a lot colder today and forecast from now so I would imagine I will start having issues again...

Re: Heater Fascia Removal / Stuck position Selector.
They can definitely be changed but I don't know what to repalce them with, I haven't seen them anywhere else. They are different to those in the dash etc

Re: 2.5td cutting out when cold
I have done both without issue, as long as I let the van warm up first. If I don't let it warm up it tends to cut out the first time I slow down in traffic.Chris Bongo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 1:29 pm Once warm, have you taken the van for a run or is it just town driving?

Re: 2.5td cutting out when cold
I still have the same issue, occurs sporadically although only when the outside temperature is cold. I have found that if I start the van and don't rev it at all and leave it to idle for 5-10mins to warm up then it will be fine. If I start driving before it warms up it will likely cut out when I fir...

Re: Buying an insurance write-off
Has the damage been repaired?
The insurance companies are quick to want to write bongos off when they suffer any damage, even cosmetic so it wouldn't cause me to rule it out straight off the bat in any case.

Re: Alternator voltage at tickover
Alternator is a replacement from a scrapyard so no idea as to it's history but the old one failed and was binned and this was only €40.
If it's not charging at idle but does so fine when revving, is there an adjustment that can be made or is it likely on the way out?

Alternator voltage at tickover
What voltage should I be seeing on the batteries from the alternator when the van is idling?
I'm getting up over 14V when the engine is reving but at idle it can be below 13. I have been having starting & cutting out issues so a lot of cranking lately. Batteries on charge now today.

Re: 2.5td cutting out when cold
So not having had any issues with the bongo for months including a trip to Glastonbury, with the arrival of the cold weather yesterday this problem raised it's unwelcome head again. Van started normally and was driving ok, when first came to a stop in traffic after a few hundred meters, van cut out ...

Re: about to be written off.
Fair enough, damage sounds worse than I thought and the retrim not as expensive as I thought!

Re: about to be written off.
so you can get 1800 and still hang onto the van - which is fully functional?
How much did you spend on the retrim?
It seems madness to me that you'd let it go for the 500 in the difference, you could get a new one and swap over all your reliable parts etc, got to be worht more than 500 to you?
