Cylinder Bores Damaged, Advice on Proceeding??
Have a customers car in with head failure, 2.5TD, exhaust valves on 2,3,and 4 show signs of water ingress, not a real problem, normally replace head etc, HOWEVER, cylinder 4 shows signs of 'pitting' around the rim, similar to a high perfomance turbo charged petrol car thats been running lean and pin...

not my description! "Leisure batteries and car batteries both make use of lead acid technology. That is to say they are both plastic boxes that contain rows of interconnected rectangular flat lead plates and a mix of sulphuric acid and water. The main priority of a car battery is to provide sta...

Re: Starting Probs
yes its the just the top of the plug, as francophile said, you just have to bend down the fuel rail a bit to clear the plug rail, i use a 1/2 sockect extension bar as its quite a broad area, only requires slight pressure and not much movement, be gentle as its quite easy to damage the rail where it ...

And stupid as it sounds, test the new plugs before you put them in!! Only have faith in NGK, even then i've seen 2 duff out of the box (admittedly amongst about 2000 lol), but with non brand and even Blueprint, i've seen high numbers of non working out of the box.

Re: Any good for bleeding a Bongo?
symptoms sound similar, have had limited experiences with petrol bongo's but have worked on lots of other vehicles at other garages etc, The bongo pick ups are very strange, they seem to work then break down, last year saw a V6, that would start and run from cold and after a few minutes, develop a m...

Re: Any good for bleeding a Bongo?
So what is the six potter non starting all about then? Mine is also a not starter.....the FIP being in another country might be the reason. It is off for overhaul in Wales. It just cut out (about 4 miles form home after a 120 mile journey from Anglesey). It started and ran, albeit very roughly with...

Re: Dash 12v supply (cigar lighter) not working
check the fusible link on the rear of the lighter socket itself, little L shaped wire (insulated black) can often overload, simple fix is to undo the retaining nut , remove the bits 1 at a time, separate and remove the insulating washer, throw it away and reassemble, the unit is then only fused by t...

Re: Immobiliser not active after battery change
sounds like maybe you've blown the fuse supplying the immobliliser and its relays have defaulted to disarmed position, which itself is quite odd as Autowatch are not only Thatcahm/VSIB approved, amongst installing community they're reputed to be the best systems in the world? and although a lot of e...

Re: remote central locking
If you had a unit like this already floating about inside your drivers door, it would be reasonable to assume there is already a solenoid in the drivers door to lock/unlock by remote...?  Yep and power! allowing an aftermarket setup to be installedin the door! unit has 4 wires, power ...

Re: What is this for ??
those plugs are for the automatic lights system, you probably have a switch on the panel under the steering wheel, with them removed the side lights come on with the normal switch only not the auto system, as long as they work, it means the system has been removed and bypassed

Re: Changing transfer box
would assume that the transfer box is the complete unit that bolts onto the rear of the gearbox?? would be wise to change the oil, (EP90 hypoid, about 1.5-6 litres)as you wont know the history of the unit.
