Re: How often should I take out my Bongo?

Yep. You don't want the authorities to take out your Bongo in the gangster sense of the phrase.

Re: Why do brakes squeal ?

Just to add... In my experience the main cause of brake squeel is contamination. As well as sanding down the pads you also need to clean the disc. Although not visible the disc will have tiny particles of brake pad in them. Scrubbing with brake cleaner should sort it. As a final note, some pads are ...

Re: Newbie - Advice please

Hello Soso and welcome to the forum. You'll find that forum members go easy on all the folk that pose questions - It's one of the good things about the forum and increasingly rare when talking about forums as a whole. You'll find lots of information on the wheel arches and bubbling. One key thing he...

Re: Knocking noise going over bumps

I suspect droplinks too.
An unexplained noise we had for a couple of weeks was a spanner left in the engine bay by a mechanic.

Re: Solar Panel mounting.

Hi You really will be fine without screws. Clean the roof, degrease (use isopropyl alcohol ) and use Sikaflex 512. I recently removed a panel fixed with the above method and theirs no way that it could blow off. The panel itself would bend in two if, for some reason, air got under the front edge, ra...

Re: Water in passenger side door well

I did read of someone replacing both door seals a while back. Seam to remember they were expensive but the owner was very pleased with the lack of wind noise.
I don't think you can buy a universal seal.

Re: 14 inch wheels

"My 2.5 td bongo auto currently has 18"alloys which I want to replace due to this happening ! Which are the correct wheels please?" Alloys should be stamped with their load - I think Bongo''s should be 680kg for the rear and a little less for the front. However, given all the pothole...

Re: Willington Split charging opinions please

Thanks Tony. Sounds like a possibility. Just looking at timer relays now as a possible fix. Can I ask what one you have? Hi. It was similar to this. - https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/mobile/product/846/category/210 Can't seem to find the 30 second version but I will seek it out if you want. ...

Re: Willington Split charging opinions please

The relay on our Williton kit failed after about 7 years. We too have solar panels which don't really suit the Williton kit as the batteries are always connected when the sun's out. I replaced the Williton relay with a 30 second timer relay. This works well with the batteries disconnected when parke...

Re: Replacement wheels suggestions

Hi.
Personally I'd go for 17" as this gives some good tyre choices - 225 50 R17 for the same rolling circumference as stock or 225 55 R17 for a little bigger which is what we have. I'd also go for strong wheels - say 750kg given all the potholes

Re: Rear heater matrix

It's not to bad. First you need to go to a garage and have them remove the aircon gas. Ask them to save it for you as it has rocketed in price recently. Next, inside the van, remove the panel trim and disconnect the electrical plugs (one for the temperature control unit, one for the blind switch and...

Re: Standard rear suspension springs

Thanks Katka. I hadn't considered progressive springs although I too fitted one to the rear shock of a motorbike and went to great lengths to do so, eventually importing one from USA. However I'm not sure the benefits to fitting such to a Bongo would be worth the extra cost considering the airlift m...

Cheers Teenmal
However I've thought about those and don't think they would work with the Airlift as the coils get narrow at the end.

Standard rear suspension springs

Hello all. Well, I've looked at all the places I can think of and can't appear to find any standard rear springs for the Bongo. Mine are quite rusty and I'd like to replace them. We have the Airlift bags fitted and it's a diesel. Any advice before I trot down to the local Mazda dealer to see if they...
