Re: Coolant Leak Assistance

NB's pressure test advice here And found the one with the pictures in EXCEPT that the photobucket boggat has been in there and taken them away. Oh dear :( Could be anywhere but the places to check first are: around the top and bottom of radiator any hoses that are bulging or feel crackly the hoses a...

Re: Engine Oil and general maintenance recommendations

For the oil change I'm following recommendation and have Magnatec ready, but whilst oily I think I'll also do an ATF change, at best it was last changed 8000 miles ago. The fluid is Dextron III, I've found but haven't been able to find how much should I buy to get the job done. It's a 2.5l V6. Any ...

Re: Whistling/Squealing

Nothing to do with me I'm afraid. :? He just vanished one night. :( I can only think he ran away to sea or it's to do with the Photobucket charge thing. Get it sorted asap Ben, don't recognise you without your panda :-( Stupid old Phartbucket- that means all my Bongo albums are gone, but i'm...

Re: Mobile broadband

I have used tethering (connecting devices to the internet via a phone's internet connection) extensively when freelancing in offices without suitable WiFi but not exclusively at home. The biggest difference with the expected usage is that office use (for me) is email, web browsing, internet chat (te...

Re: Whistling/Squealing

Sometimes a squealing belt can be diagnosed by spraying a small amount of water onto it while running. We're talking a plant sprayer here, not the garden hose. BOB Just noticed Poop the Panda has gone and a new avatar has taken its place! Did Poop finally succumb to dysentery or has ...

Re: Whistling/Squealing

Squealing, maybe not for a whistling noise: the simplest thing to check initially and eliminate from suspicion are the aircon and alternator belts. Worn or loose? Do they run smoothly even when squealing noise is present? Any of the rotating components seizing? Aircon on/off make a difference? Also ...

Re: Fumes in main cabin

Fuel systems are on the driver's side and exhaust on passenger side so messing with one shouldn't affect the other.

Is it worth checking for fuel leaks and that they aren't getting a whiff of diesel somehow? Fuel pump leaks tend to be more apparent when idling.

Re: Newbie with a wiring puzzle

Hi Peter, Thanks for your input, and yes it is the radio. I'll just leave that alone as i think its more than likely the cheapo radio that's been fitted and the remedy will more than likely to be fit a better radio. The problem i had at the beginning of the post has not reoccurred which is a bit of...

Re: Removing Decals

I was too cowardly to use a toffee wheel after hearing the warnings though it does seem to be the tool favoured by pros. I removed all the original stickers (lower silver sheets and graphics) with hairdryer to soften and remove plastic, then petrol and plastic scrapers to remove the glue. Hard work ...

Re: Coolant looking a bit low

You're right that the front rad is for the aircon. I live on a hill with a sloping drive (levelling ramps nearly level the Bongo.) and find it really affects the coolant level shown but not as much you are showing. Personally I'd top up, go for a 5 mile drive and see when cooled how much coolant is ...

Re: Not an owner....yet....

As campers go there are more compromises with the Bongo because of its compact size but that also is its selling point; it will go absolutely anywhere a car can go with one small exception, some car parks because of its height, and is nothing like a van to drive. One of our friends bought one becaus...

Re: Rear Heater Supply Pipe

I see 20-32 mil dia is the smallest they do...so ok but you will need Norma for the smaller pipes Ah yes. I used spring clips (similar to Mazda originals) on smaller hoses and genuine jubilee clips on the two turbo hoses (for no other reason than I hadn't ordered the right spring clips! ) Th...

Re: Coolant

Thanks for the update. It great to hear how things pan out and even better that it wasn't all bad. Sorry to hear though that Bongo is poorly. I'd reiterate and emphasising what Bob said. In all probability the head is cracked, it is so rare on this engine for the gasket to go in isolation. Do everyt...
