Re: eBay madness (not the Bristol chap)

Some ebay prices are well OTT .. Rather than coiling a meter of copper brake pipe around an heater pipe .. I was after a Paddy Hopkirk 'Hot Wash' .. a very simple 1960's devise which cost then around two quid it fitted into an heater pipe (errr ... it's .. NOT for my Bongo) .. that heated up the wi...

Re: EGR System blanking

Why does the gasket need to be removed I would of thought it would need that to seal again ? I was looking at that. Do people use any gasket seal on blanking plates. No mention in fitting instructions. Anyhow just ordered two from Allans. and one way valve thing that I broke years ago when fitting ...

Re: Leisure Battery problems

Have you got a power management system installed? Something like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_nkw=PMS4%20POWER%20MANAGEMENT%20SYSTEM%20CHARGER%2012V%20MAINS%20240V%20camper%20caravan%20zig&_itemId=140969276637 If so, check that you have all the switches set correctly, it's very easy...

Re: help, garage can't fix my bongo

I'd take it to a garage that knows Bongos if I were you. The vacuum layout isn't that complicated. I disconnected the EGR valve completely on our 2001 diesel without any problems. What you have to watch out for is that some of the vacuum gear is associated with the turbo operation but it's fairly st...

Re: European Breakdown Cover

Don't forget that if you breakdown on a French motorway (don't know about other countries) then your breakdown cover won't help. You have to phone 112 (or use one of the emergency phones every 2km) and contact the gendamerie who send out a contacted breakdown person. Once off the motorway if its sti...

Re: Hardknott Pass in the snow

BFB The camera is a DOD 460W dashcam. The actual video quality is excellent from the camera itself but it takes five minute segments so I've had to stitch them together and then compress the file to get it to a reasonable size for YouTube so quality has suffered. On the raw video you can clearly se...

Re: Hardknott Pass in the snow

Jilly No but we had the advantage of having winter tyres on which I think made the most difference. I can lock the rear diff as well and turn off the ABS so that also helped. I came down slowly in neutral with very light braking as even in bottom gear it was trying to drive the van down too fast BFB...

What fuel are you using?
We had this problem twice when using supermarket diesel, absolutely no problems using branded fuel.
