Re: New Conversion - Things to ask for...

Re Sink - I understand where you are coming from, the size you typically end up with are not much use, and you can use bottled water for making a brew etc. However - one aspect you may have overlooked. Are you planning to re-register it as a campervan? You don't need to, but some insurers prefer it,...

Re: Adding a Leisure Battery

When you do the sums, you realise that a microwave is never really going to be viable on a 12v battery, whatever you do there is not enough energy to power the unit - which is actually quite inefficient. There is an american 12v microwave available, "Wavebox" IIRC, about 600W. Now, if this...

Re: A slight twist to the "bleeding method"

Neat solution Helen - I will be shamelessly copying this! I have done the funnel see-saw method a few times now, single handed each time. The trick to doing it solo is to have a piece of skirting board or similar resting on the throttle - you can rev up the engine, let go of the plank and it stays i...

Re: Seats won't lift

Reading the original post it's possible that you are trying to move the wrong thing. I cannot get the seats to tilt away from the floor either forward or back? The floor is hinged behind the seats - the whole thing, floor panel with seat attached, opens up. If you have a side conversion, this can st...

Re: Seen at The Bash: Tailgate awning, reversible seat etc.

Interesting variation on the swivel seat theme. Not a copy of mine, but a similar mechanism. Makes a huge difference to the space in the van, and that's a reasonable price.

Was it New Dawn Conversions doing these?

Re: Front lower arm

I had teh same - bought a 26mm spanner to take it off, then had to go (by foot!) to get a 27 to put it back on!

2WD is much easier than 4WD due to the CV joint making getting the spanner on/off a ballache, if you are using the ring-spanner end that is.

Re: Hold light flashing called a garage they say gear box??

The light is flashing a code - you need to decode it first to see what it's telling you. What age is your van, and what engine? Is your gearbox misbehaving at all - slipping, not changing correctly, etc? There is a fact sheet, here which discussed various hold light flashing issues. And a fact sheet...

Have you seen the Swiss Room Box stuff?

It's not cheap (understatement!), but has some great ideas to 'borrow'...

Re: Looking further into the conversion - need some measurem

If the Bongo comes with flip up seats can the middle row be pushed back all the way and use the belts at the back? No, the flip-seat mountings protrude up from the wheelarches inside and would stop the seat moving back. Also, the rails in the floor are short on the flip-seat models. You can fit lon...

Re: Curtains Rails for the side windows

You can re-upholster the blinds in blackout material which means it stays dark inside on light mornings, and the silhouettes can't be seen. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-U8FHXBvQDDA/TAiV8GF3UoI/AAAAAAAALbg/4JxfZ4l8u0M/s640/IMAG0022.jpg Click the drawing of the material below for the full album,...

Re: Curtains Rails for the side windows

Odd - these rails are the same rail type as the genuine article, but as Simon points out, there was never an option for side curtains. Only Front/Mid/Rear. I suspect that they are a set (or combination of sets) which have been re-cut / bent to suit the side windows (perhaps in error?). They should c...

You may struggle to get a tintop / rear conversion accepted as a Motor Caravan by DVLA.
