Re: a novice fitting glowplugs

Using a torque wrench only ensures that you don't over tighten a bolt, its a measure of the rotational force that has to be overcome to turn the bolt due to friction. Angular tightening is about applying a clamping force along the length of the bolt, as it is stretched by the length that Steve descr...

Re: Fuse blowing when engaging reverse

You might need to know that the rear cluster lights slide out from the side they do not pull straight off the back! Undo the bolts then slide the cluster to the left/right to free them;

Re: a novice fitting glowplugs

You are probably right their Steve, I was thinking of measuring tensile strength where you stretch material to its breaking point, once metal materials get beyond there elasticity limit then the force required to stretch it to breaking point actually reduces. I suspect however that for stretch bolts...

Re: a novice fitting glowplugs

I think you will find that when the bolt starts to stretch the Torque required may well REDUCE, by angle tightening you force the bolt to stretch by a given amount in length.

Re: Fuse blowing when engaging reverse

Is it this fuse your referring to ? http://www.g8dhe.net/bwm/hotspots/x03-15.jpg If so have you checked the bulb itself, by removing it and inspecting it ? Does it happen every time, you go into reverse if so does it happen immediately, or when / how long after selecting reverse ? The feed from the ...

Re: Brake light bulb

Which wires have you checked ? There are a couple of plugs en route back to the main wiring loom, the mostly likely suspect might be the one between the aerofoil and the back door have you checked that one ?

Re: sliding door

I'm having mine redone in a couple of weeks time, with some other paint touch-up work. The coating can get damaged from stones etc.

Check that the side door step hasn't dropped a little and is the cause of the noise when the lower arm travels underneath it.

Re: Powering laptop from leisure battery

You also need to be aware that most of them from 12v sources have Low-Volt Cut-out, however they tend to Cut-out a trifle to early as the cable run usually introduces a bit to much of a voltage drop and you find that they are forever switching in-out-in-out whilst your trying to use it. Make sure th...

They come up that side but then cross over and up the other side, however these photo's were taken a while back and were more about installing the electroluminescent dashboard displays which included the gear shift strip, I wasn't really interested at the time in the Green/Red wires but just noticed...

Re: Blinds

I would have hoped that they did! Obviously both the belt fixings and the R&R fixings to the floor all need to meet what ever the required specs are there are quite a few links on a Google search, but you need to be careful regarding dates of documents - its not always clear as to when they appl...
