Re: Front door insulation
A very interesting and informative thread. My soundproofing is much more basic, with bitumen pads stuck in the doors & rear panels, but even that is well worth doing and I'm convinced the stereo sounds better. One problem is though, you get used to a quieter Bongo and after a couple of thousand ...

Re: Sound insulation
Hi, You will find it almost impossible to access parts of the door interiors, but will be able to get enough in there to do the job. I found a stick and a very small diameter paint roller useful, but don't press too hard - the tinwork is very thin! While you have the trim panels off it might be wort...

Hi,
I'm afraid I don't have the faintest idea of what is going on with this thread, but I do have 2 questions:
1. What are you lot smoking?
2. Please could you send me some?

Hi, If you are buying a fresh import then everything required to have it UK road legal will be done for you and when you collect you just check it out, pay the money over, sign on the dotted line and drive it away. There is one exception to this, an import scheme where you are basically responsible ...

Re: Sound insulation
Hi, I did the door panels & rear panels up to window level in the sticky aluminium faced stuff and found that it did have the effect of reducing the panel resonance. It also made the standard speakers sound better, but the most startling effect was the absence of the horrible tinny "sounds ...

Re: Not an owner....yet....
Hi, One thing that has not been mentioned is what a wonderful vehicle a Bongo is for photographers. You can pop up the AFT, lift the front canvas and sit up there very comfortably and discretely with your camera on a tripod while an ample supply of bacon butties and your favourite beverage is suppli...

Re: Hello! Keen potential Bongo owner seeking engine advice
Rita - Purely out of interest, have you heard of anybody taking the supercharger route on this engine, rather than turbocharging? I once had a car I fitted a blower to and the difference it made was startling, particularly if booted on hills.

Re: Wrapping the AFT
Hi, I thought about getting my Bongo AFT wrapped, but decided against it - the lifespan of wraps is limited, some more so than others. While I have no experience of having a wrapped vehicle I think the detrimental effects because the roof is in sunlight much longer than the sides could shorten its l...

Re: Rustoleum Touch Up Job
Hi, Many thanks for the heads up on this - I've been following your threads with interest because I have a paint problem too, but in my case it is a very faded, tatty AFT top. The van is indigo blue over silent silver with the roof in blue and I was thinking of changing the roof colour to silver so ...

Re: Somerset Day
Hi Bob, As promised I'm raising my glass to Somerset, though its actually a rather pleasant dark beer and I'm afraid the cheese is Camembert. There is an orchard just round the corner from us, where we run the dogs most days. There are only 3 trees left there now, but they are very old, massive and ...

Re: Somerset Day
Hi Bob, Sh!t! I missed it. however I will raise a glass or two to my adopted county tomorrow night. Told to me by an old Devon farmhand years ago - if you want Real cider, not the stuff that gets sold as such, get 5 gallons of new pressings in the autumn, throw in a pound of cheapest minced beef, a ...

Re: AFT lifting speed
But surely the way to tell if your erectile equipment is working satisfactorily is to also time it on deflation and see how this time compares to the time taken to get it up. If it flops down much quicker than it goes up then you might need the same type of surgery Geoff has had. If the times taken ...

Hi,
Not that I'm currently suffering from loose screws (?), but from what I've read on the subject, I think Araldite or some other good quality 2-part epoxy seems to be favourite.
