Re: Bongo not starting
Silly question, but did you have your foot on the brake pedal? You need to.

Re: Overheating
Definitely. Fingers crossed. And the only advisory is a small chip on the windscreen, which is a relief.mikeonb4c wrote: Excellent news and hopefully that's an end to it.

Re: Overheating
So, it turns out that the immediate problem was due to a sticking thermostat, which has now been replaced. There was also a slight leak from the radiator, which wasn't in great nick and has been replaced as well. There was also some welding required to the front crossmember, so that was done and und...

Re: Early Bongo?
I think so too. I think it's about time that one of the classic car magazines latched onto the alternative (I.e. non-VW) campers, like Bongos/Freda's, Hiace etc.

Re: Early Bongo?
I harbour ambitions to get back into owning a classic, but i'm just not sure i'll be able to afford it! No, i don't class the Bongo as a classic. I class it as old, but, a certain future classic. I wonder when Bongos/Fredas will start to become classics, rather than just old? After all, cars such a...

MOT fail, but not unhappy
This morning I took our Freda to have a coolant loss investigated and to be MOT'd. I've just had a phone call to say it failed has failed the MOT. Bad news I think. But it failed on a perforated rear exhaust and some repairable corrosion on the front crossmember. And the coolant loss is due to the r...

Re: Overheating
Thanks all for your advice. I've checked out what I can and all seems OK. The van is due an MOT in the next couple of weeks so I have booked it in early with a garage less than a mile from the house - happily they are familiar with Bongos. They will pressure test the system etc. and see what they ca...

Overheating
Hi all. I just popped out for a quick local trip our 2.5 diesel. On the way back the temperature gauge suddenly went up quickly, so I pulled in before damage was done. There was water dripping from the short overflow hose that comes from the header tank filler, but no other leaks. The radiator was s...

Freda Office
Hi All I work from home, which is fine except that we live in a 2 bed bungalow, which it can be a bit invasive for my wife as have no separate office space. So we considered setting up a shed with power. Then it occurred to me: we have a perfectly good 'shed' parked on the drive right next to the ho...

Re: Friendly Bongoliers
Having a few days break in the Exeter area. Staying at Castle Brake campsite near Woodbury. We have seen a good number of Bongos and all have given a friendly wave. It is great to be part of this elite community. :D One of them might have been us. We live just down the road from Woodbury, in Exmout...

Re: startup issue
I had a similar problem, bought a solenoid repair kit including the plunger, then found that it was a loose wire to the solenoid. Sometimes it made contact, sometimes not. Plugged it back on firmly and it's been fine ever since.
