Hi Mike...I shouldn't get too worried about the fan, as this summer was a record- breaking 43Deg. C. and my fan didn't appear to work that often, and only when I stopped on the drive after a long burst over the hills. I find that the Bongo copes quite well in the engine cooling department, but I sti...

Hi Thanks Franco....looked under the bonnet, and there it is.....funnily enough , labelled rear fan. I checked the fuse and it's got continuity, so the problem is elsewhere. It's strange, I was just sitting in the car with the aircon on, and the engine was idling, and the rear fan just stopped...no ...

Hi
Thanks. I'll check the fuses, and if no joy, I fear that the switch itself may be fried, as the little light in the switch failed ages ago.I'll let you know what the outcome is.
Cheers
Helen

mnogo pozdrave ot Balgaria Stephen and Badjo. Yes, please send some "piccies" , and tell us about Bongoing in the Phillipines. What's life like there, climate, roads and driving....so many questions! If you fancy a trip to Bulgaria, pop one of those left hand drive conversions in your duff...

Hi Mountaingoat
Muchas Ta for the information…most useful. Job done….now I have to learn to tell the time! What is it when the big hand and little hand point to 12? I just know it as time to sit down with a nice glass of chilled local white wine!
Many thanks once again

wiring query
Hi
Does anyone know which wire coming from the lighting switch on the steering column is the wire for the sidelights. I am wiring a dash clock, & I want the light to come on with the dash lights. Perhaps Pippin, if you are out there.
Many thanks
Helen

weight in bongo
Hi Harry, I don’t know about birdy food, but a couple of months back I carried in the Bongo :- myself, Tony, two neighbours, an old pram and sixty chickens. I’ve never seen so many chickens packed into crates. We often help the neighbours transporting pig food, but we hitch up a trailer for that! To...

dash switch
Hi Thanks for the comments, and I shall try an LED rather than a bulb, but a bulb was my first thought as I haven’t seen any electronics vendors over here. It looks like making internet orders from abroad. I’m never too sure about turning air filters around, as by the time dirt figures on the inside...

air filter, & dash switch questions
Hi I’m just doing a service, and the question of the air filter arises. In the “glovebox” handbook it states that the air filter needs changing at 5000Km. Surely that can’t be right. I’ve never had a vehicle with such a large air filter that needs such service intervals. I usually replace it annuall...

Hi Don’t say I told you, but you just need to hop back to England for a long weekend once a year and get a “proper” MOT, and keep the car on English plates, and use English insurance. If you pop over the border once every 3 to 6 months, you should not need to import it. I believe that EEC regulation...

Hello Rob’n’Kathryn
See if a small local recovery firm with a spectacle lift truck would spare 5 mins.
to raise your van while you pile a few railway sleepers under it. There’s often a small independent who may oblige.
Cheers

propshaft
Hi Harry I think Mike is right, have a look at the bearings first, but if you have been driving off- road, literally where there are no roads, and over really rough areas at a highish speed, it could be that you have bent a prop- shaft. This produces a fairly heavy vibration at all speeds, increasin...

Sounds like a good idea to me, as the Bongo was obviously designed for Japanese climate alone, being a non- export model, and I am not aware of the Japanese temperature variations, and what the Bongo could realistically cope with abroad….for instance we have had temperatures over here of 43Deg. C in...
