Re: Euro Tunnel in the bongo

We use vouchers and have paid as a car and also been stung having to pay as a camper. As for parking for the night near Calais, I wouldn't - many of the aires or camping spots are known to attract thieves looking for your cameras etc. or you passports. I would not want to stay within 2 hours drive o...

Re: Cruise Control, Taking the plunge

Don't try and use Scotchlocks as the Bongo wire is too thin for a good contact, and as said you don't need to cut any pipes for vacuum take off. Lift passengers seat and at the front of the engine is a vertical vacuum pipe with a small T take off. Remove the rubber cover by pulling the very end wit...

Re: Cruise Control, Taking the plunge

Premiums should not change. Call your company and find out who they will accept as a qualified person to check that your installation is correct. They allowed me to use an automotive electrical engineer in Bedford who confirmed that it was ok. I have not heard of anyone fitting the Waeco Magic Speed...

Re: HAD MY BONGO 1 DAY AND I NEED HELP

First of all welcome. Second, your door requires manual closing ... the electric bit is the final closing mechanism which pulls it shut to avoid having to slam it. Not all Bongos / Fredas have it but most do and it is factory fitted but not related to remote locking. I think that owners' manuals are...

Re: Daily Titter - content warning!

During the second world war, Russia, England and America were nominal allies. Russia was facing a lot of shortages and one of the things that they requested from the west was condoms. When comrade Stalin was asked what sort, he replied that they should be standard Russian size - 9 inches. After he h...

Re: European road trip 2010

Seems a good trip and maybe not such a rush if you are going via Santander. However, it would be a shame to rush through the Pyrenees and miss out on a few days R&R on the beaches in the med. (Although the beaches north of Barcelona nothing special, it is nice to get some sunshine and warm water...

Re: Seasickness

Talking of vomitting, I spent a happy crossing to France watching people throw up over the side of the boat - their vomit was caught by the wind and blown into the faces of those further along the side, towards the stern. :-& Stern was also a suitable word to describe the look I got from a Frenc...

Re: Charged as a campervan on EuroTunnel

We were charged an extra £18 when we booked our rtn. tickets for the Eurotunnel today - because Bongos are now classed as campervans; we have sleeping facilities and a cooker  We used our Tesco vouchers for the crossing and it usually works out to be relatively cheap but will be looking at ot...

Re: Seasickness

Isaac Newton got where he is today by licking his fingers after he had been handling poisons and heavy metals. Mind you, was probably the sitting under the apple tree that made him forget to wash his hands!! Didn't do him too much harm 8) He was 84 when he died - a fantastic age in those days =D> M...

Re: Seasickness

I put two small bits of plaster (sticky) behind my ears - it seems to work on acupuncture points I also use wrist bands. I am not the best sailor but slept through a very rough night on board a diving charter boat in the Pacific - everyone else spent the night on the top deck being very ill - includ...

Instead of Tyreweld, or whatever, why not install this stuff http://www.puncturesafe.co.uk/flashintro.html for greater peace of mind? Go...

Re: S.O.S Coolant loss.

My expansion cap came off after I had topped up the levels - fortunately, my hi-lo alarm screamed so I stopped pretty quickly and no damaged was caused. It took me 2 long weeks to be sure - bleeding the system, reving etc took several hours to be certain there were no air bubbles left & a sniffe...

Re: Charged as a campervan on EuroTunnel

I believe that you can pay as you arrive at the terminal but the prices are often higher because you cannot take advantage of early booking. If you are not using any vouchers etc. the cheapest way to pay is in advance, online.

You'll have to give some more details; what make is the chip and what colour wires come out of it?
