Re: best layout to make room for a portapotty????
I've been wondering about this over the last few months actually...here in NZ if you want to be able to do Freedom Camping then you have to be 'Certified - Self Contained' - one of the stipulations is that you need to have an on-board toilet. My idea was to build a DIY, much smaller scale version of...

Re: door lock barrel replacement from other Mazdas?
Thanks @ Tony x - that's a good lead - it looks like I should be able to get hold of a 323 lock pretty easily :D . Anyone on here a locksmith that might be able to identify the potential pitfalls of installing a lock from another vehicle? I understand the basic mechanics of the lock but if the conne...

Re: door lock barrel replacement from other Mazdas?
@Rita - yes they do look very reasonably priced and thats why i thought i might as well fit one anyway. I thought you could get a lock 'rekeyed' ...so it fits the key I already have? Im sure Ive seen one of the car alarm places in town offering this service? $50 for RCL, $20 ish for a barrel & a...

Re: door lock barrel replacement from other Mazdas?
Thanks @Rita I did think about just doing that but I figured it wouldnt be too much cost or hassle, for aesthetic reasons and would help if and when I sell him on. Theres no damage the door itself so just looks like a straight swap but I have no idea where to source a barrel.... Would a standard bon...

Re: First time working on a bongo. Remote central locking
@BigMatB I'm hoping to fit something similar and wondered if you ever got around to drawing anything up? I did look in the members area and there was a sheet on fitting central locking but some of the text was unreadable and it looks like a different system completely :( help would be great thanks -...

Re: My new setup in Buddy
Nice one fellas, Had ventilation on my radar but not a CO detector.... v good idea, thanks I'd love to get the hot water by using the engine heat but I think a system like that is a bit beyond my capabilities... it does seem a shame we can't take advantage of all the heat!! BTW has anyone managed to...

My new setup in Buddy
I have read through various posts on setting up a leisure battery and split charge system and I have already bought most of the kit I’ll need – I think. I was keen to get some feedback from you guys to make sure that the setup I envisage is not only suitable but also safe….so here goes SB >>>> VSR >...

Re: Trip of my Life - Driving Round the South Island
Wow, I've never heard anyone say the drive to Milford is boring before  . I went to Milford quite a few times when I lived in Queenstown and I thought it was amazing each and every time. I can only assume you were driving Scanner and didn't get to see the full extent of the scenery. Don't ge...

Re: Trip of my Life - Driving Round the South Island
Hey, Sounds like an awesome trip and I feel very lucky to say that we’re about to do a similar one when my partner’s dad comes over in a few weeks. I have to admit to MUCH preferring the South Island, I think the scenery is much more dramatic and as lovely as the sandy beaches of the north island ar...

Re: New owner in NZ...anyone else?
Well, it won't be the end of the world if it doesn't quite work out as New Zealand has no shortage of lovely Japanese vans from other stables, some probably more practical than Bongos. Certainly no particular need to go looking for a VW! I didn't see that many Bongos during my visits to that lovely...
