Re: Mildew removal from roof canvas tips please

I've used Dettol mildew spray once a year for about the last five years and so far have had no damage to the roof tent. It works well but needs good ventilation :D That's reassuring to hear. Not leaving it on too long then washing it off/diluting with water is very important in order to minimise de...

Thanks for those. May try a sneaky wildcamp but I've read that they're clamping down in Snowdonia. Just need this weather to continue... :D

Snowdon

Can anyone recommend a wildcamp/cheap campsite near Snowdon, preferably near a pub?
Thanks :D

Re: Campsite prices

We liked the look of this site on our way back from the Hebrides last summer but couldn't justify the cost. Shame, it looks lovely :(

Re: Quechua Base as an Awning?

I've used a Quechua on a C&CC as well as many others. I just said it was an awning and have had no problems at all. Here is one of our set ups using an adapted Quechua tarp http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z9/idetika/bongo%20canopy/IMG_7905.jpg The Quechuas are so versatile. I have two bases p...

Re: MOT Failure - Removing Radiator

Thanks for the replies.
I'd read about the vac method on the fact sheet and presumed it would be an ok method to use but now I'm feeling a bit worried 8-[
I'll talk it through with the garage and give them the fact sheet/video links.

MOT Failure - Removing Radiator

Bongo has just failed it's MOT (first time in seven years :( ) The cross member at the front is severely corroded and needs welding. To do this the garage have informed me that they will remove the radiator and bleed it. This is making me nervous, the garage are good and I have told them about the i...

Re: Cobb oven

I've had one for a few years now and love it. It does take a bit of practice to master it but we've had some fabulous meals cooked on it, from casseroles to roast dinners with all the trimmings. Sometimes we use it at home, it's so convenient. When our gas bottle regulator broke on the Outer Hebride...

Re: Team Muz on Tour – to Mallaig, the Road to the Isles

Fab pictures, I've always fancied getting the train all the way to Mallaig (did the jacobite a few years ago). Drove home from Fort William on Saturday, didn't see a single train although there was a steam train at Fort William station on Friday lunchtime (presumably the Jacobite), it headed out to...

Re: awnings

We've had a Khyam for five years, never let us down despite some terrible weather. For shorter breaks we have a couple of Quechua seconds base tents. They do not connect directly to Bongo but we create a canopy with a tarp/figure of eight (that fits snugly on to the Bongo) that gives us a good cover...

Re: Orkney

Absolutely love Skye (and the rest of the Hebrides) but fancy a change. However, we are planning to head home via the west coast and may make it onto Skye, so look out for a green Bongo! :D Do you think it's necessary to book the ferries in mid august? We'd rather be flexible in case we see somethin...

Been busy, not logged on til just now (I'm female by the way  ). I've read through your fab replies and have loved looking at the pictures which have given us loads of ideas, thanks! :D We'll get the Pentland ferry going and maybe the Northlink coming home (to catch a glimpse of the Old Man of...
