Interesting to hear your news Ian. I too have heard that underseal is not recommended. I 'm considering having a fancy job (£387 cost) done at Chassis Clean near us as they waxoil and then put a hard Dinitrol product over it - sounds like the best of both worlds (they got strong recommendation from ...

I've bought myself 4 steel wheels with good condition 215/65/R15 94H tyres (6mm tread on them) off ebay for £100 (which I think is OK) and am picking them up at the weekend. But I sure do like the 17" alloys that Mango came with - if only I wasnt so fearful of having to reshod them every 5k mil...

Great advice as ever - I'll try it out. I suspect the alternator is fine, the battery has just been abused. I'm hopeful the 95AmpHr thumper that arrives tomorrow will sort it. The old battery was very perky this evening after a day on charge so I drove my daughter to Explorers in the old girl (Mango...

Strange - I thought I posted a reply a while back. I've bought a 95 AmpHr battery from batman.co.uk @ £69+VAT and its arriving tomorrow. When I drove it back last week, the Bongo did 400 miles, all with the lights on, aircon etc and no warning light showing so I imagine it should be safe to set off ...

The funny thing is that - although expecting to find the ride unsatisfactory - I've been really impressed with it. Hence my dilemma!

Thanks everyone for help on this.

Thanks Veg_ian. My slight concern is why the 70Ah appears to be faulty immediately after I bought the vehicle. The battey is only 2yrs and 5k miles old. I phoned the previous owner who said it had been OK but maybe had a tendency to go flat 'if left for a week'. He wondered if there was a current le...

Battery on new Bongo appears duff - what is correct AmpHour?

Just a quickie if anyone is looking in. The battery in my Bongo seems to go flat if left for a day or two. It is supposedly 2yrs old, make is Heller but it looks cheap, and rating is 70AmpHr (which seems low for a beast like a Bongo). I need to have a travelling Bongo for urgent journey this weekend...

Great help that guys. Sounds like those of us who have to be practical about £ etc should perhaps pass on the alloys (shame cos they are lovley) and go for high profile/steel, economy and comfort, if not max elegance

Anyone able to comment on Nangkang tyre brand? The ones for me seem to be NS-2 215/50 R17 91V TW @ £54.40 ea. They get a good review on http://www.mytyres.co.uk Yokohama equivalent seems to be 215/50 R17 95W RF , RPB asymmetric @ £71.60 . They too get a good review but no better than Nankang!?! Are ...

It would be interesting to see pictures of the MOT failure so that we can all check that similar problems are not on their way for us. Was the old girl waxoiled etc, and how long in the UK and on what kind of (salted) roads I wonder?

Thanks Bumbly1 - that sounds a lot better than 5k miles on the 17" Bridgestones I'm told mine have done. It will be interesting to see what other replied come back on this thread. Its almost something worth taking a poll on so owners can look and see who and what are getting / giving the best b...

Need advice on low profile tyres-cheap brands & long wea

Apologies for starting a new thread on this but cant find what I'm after. I need help from low profile tyres users. I have to make a decision on whether to get standard 15" steel wheels and tyres or put a new set of low profile tyres on my 17" alloy wheels (215/50/R17 91V from memory altho...

antique - I'm an ignoramus. Where (what kind of shop) do you buy suitable O rings for this kind of job. Presume you mean go into the O ring shop with old one(s) having taken them out, and look for exact match?

Just spoke with the guy whose Bongo I'm hoping to buy tomorrow. He is absolutely insistent that in the motor trade (which he has been in for 35 odd years) the rule is don't change auto gearbox oil if avoidable. If a check shows it is the right colour (pinkish?) and it 'smells right' then the risks o...
