Re: Wilko "Lazy Bones" Fast Wax Spray (good stuff)

Still got a 1/2 decent shine from this waxing so seems not to be a waste of time.

Re: 280 miles to tank - about right or low?

Try and avoid it going down a gear through smooth and gentle acceleration technique, that immediately pushes revs through the roof, smooth driving. Judge distances in front and at junctions and roundabouts so you don't have to unnecessarily overdo the breaking. Dump your water tank contents if unuse...

Wilko "Lazy Bones" Fast Wax Spray (good stuff)

I tried this the other day and thought it was good nice shine on the Bongo. Will see how long it lasts but £2.25 a bottle is a decent price. Took about 1 hour which I think is fairly quick for a thorough wax job.

Rubbed on with a microfibre cloth and off with a fresh one.

Re: MOT fail list - any advice/ideas appreciated - esp costs

You tend to find if a good reliable mechanic has a vehicle with multiple problems the price does not get quite as much as you might think, once a load of stuff is off the vehicle and it's up in the air/over a well in the ground they can do things a hell of a lot quicker (with specialist tools etc.) ...

Re: MOT fail list - any advice/ideas appreciated - esp costs

There are good mechanics out there who won't rip you off. (start with the members conversant garage list on this forum, it is not expensive to join for a year and very useful indeed) If at all possible try and get 2 quotes if you can. I know it is disheartening when a vehicle is not working so was n...

Sorry to hear about your Bongo problems there mate. I would just change tyres immediately after getting a quote off a garage for the work, your life and others may depend on them. I never let them get anywhere near the legal limit.(£500.00 fine per tyre if old bill pull you over) The difference in s...

Maiden Bongo voyage...

was at a festival at the weekend, great friendly festival. And bongo ran nice... a few small issues one being fuse blowing cause of a loose wire under the bonnet... I saw it had come uncrimped so have to sort that blew and 20A fuse between the 2 batteries. I was wondering why the control unit for th...

Re: Rusty Door - Advice appreciated!

I am about to do some surface rust work on a sill and am going to use Hammerite Kurust and Hammerite smooth silver direct to rust paint (2 coats)... all available on ebay. Depends if it is paint or the metal bubbling usually indicates the possibility of pitting or holes which might require some fill...

Re: Heat in the cab from engine

May I recommend either a low coolant alarm or a temp sensor from Haydn alarms. On Bongos I think they are almost essential bits of kit. They give much needed piece of mind and even if your bongo is running nicely and behaving it will warn you the next time it is not whether thats 6 months or 6 years...

Re: High Temp Alarm Systems (V6)

How come the coolant alarm is primary and the temp sensor secondary. My own reasoning considered the temp sensor would "catch all" where if the coolant does not drop in the header tank due to an air lock you won't be knowing about an overheat until your heads cracked.

Millers Diesel Power Ecomax...

good stuff, less than £10.00 a bottle on ebay. Does 10 x 50L tanks of Diesel. Running a tank without it at the moment and fairly sure it pulls better and seems all round smoother with, like a newer engine. I think it does indeed help MPG, though I have not done exactly scientific measurements but I ...

Re: Runs very bad in hot weather

Pure guesswork.. severely blocked fuel filter ? Tut, sorry I see you mentioned that.
Cylinder head crack/ head gasket ? See any creamy stuff in your oil filler pipe or dip stick?

I think you should not 2,500 rev it anymore could be causing further damage.

Re: Haydn Temperature alarm cable sensor routing..

Highest temp hit 97C on long prolonged upward M-way hill on a hottish day so put it to 99C now. Seems to sit around 94-96C typically.
