Sue and I should be up for this meet, too - we was proper poorly for the Chew Magna one!!
Won't be staying the night, though.

"Anyone know if the later style Aero roof has the same type of threaded inserts for mounting roof bars? Thx in advance"

Hmmm - is Bemerton expecting a shiny new upstart, then?

Re: Pathetic Headlights

Doesn't sound as though KP's headlamps are up to par - I'm very satisied with mine. May be worth getting someone with a multimeter to check tha actual voltage reaching the bulbs, and comparing it with the battery voltage - maybe some voltage drop through those 10 year old switches and connectors!! I...

Re: Chew Valley Lakes Day Meet 29th Nov

GUTTED!! Sue and I were both really looking forward to this meet - cleaned the Bongo - got bread n' ham in for sarnies - then last night we both went down with this sickness and diarrhoea bug. Needless to say, we both felt like wrung out dishcloths all day - no food, just drink. Looks like you all h...

That's a shame, Haydn - we're going the following Tuesday to the Bike Show.

Only kidding about the teeth - just too tight to spend the money outside eBay !!

Reckon Sue and I could be up for this meet, too - nothing too strenuous, though -
I don't do walking, especially up hills!!

Glad Haydn is coming - he can bring my new teeth!!

Re: Mud flap Ideas?

I agree - the standard mud flaps don't seem to do a very good job. I think the problem is deeper than just better mud flaps. The aerodynamics of the Bongo is well known as a "brick". Unfortunately, this creates a low pressure area immediately behind it, drawing in the rain and road dirt. D...

Re: Standard Cigarette Lighter Wiring a bit lightweight?

Hi Hippotastic, I think that the items you are looking to charge from the cigarette socket are not a problem - there is not much current involved in charging those items - plus the fact that the chargers plug probably have a circuit to drop the output voltage down, so you are really tied into that f...

Re: Standard Cigarette Lighter Wiring a bit lightweight?

I feel the whole concept of running anything that takes any serious current from a cigarette lighter socket is a bad idea! There is just not enought definate contact pressure between the plug and the socket - it relies on really just the side spring loops of the plug to maintain contact to the centr...

Re: Flat Battery

Good post, Hotel Echo - I concur !! :D

Also, I believe it is possible for the diodes in the alternator. if faulty, to drain the battery.
Maybe worth having checked if all else fails.

Re: Lighting problem

I would be inclined to check the lighting earth connections - running under voltage can cause headlights to fail. Also found with my oldish bikes - electrical connector blocks that have lain undisturbed for yonks can tarnish - a few hours spent in the sun disconnecting, cleaning, and refitting all t...

I would have thought that 40 to 50km/h was too slow for it to engage?

Re: nightmare please help

That's very bad luck - but Protech are a very experienced company - they have a branch in Weston - s - Mare that does SVA's on imports. Bell Hill Garage, nr Bath, also break Bongo's - so they may be worth contacting if the replacement engine option is chosen - 01373 834252 - bellhillgarage@ btconnec...
