Re: new member with questions
The bottom hose is cooler than the top hose...it’s just that you want it to go warm to prove the stat has opened, this often releases a load of air stored in the bottom hose and if this is not expelled via the bleed hose it gets stuck in the head and causes overheating

Re: new member with questions
If the temp was low and the revs yes they could still be cycling on/off, you say your temp gauge is just short of half way when warm (11 o,clock) that is normal, if it ever goes to 12 o,clock you are about to overheat. It can take ages for the thermostat to open when the weather is cold. When bleedi...

Re: new member with questions
Are you aware that the dashboard glow plug light is not in anyway telling you what the glow plugs are doing. The glow plugs cycle on/off/on/off many times and are revs/temperature dependant. They can do this many times before switching off and this will be about when the temp gauge starts to move. S...

Re: Avoid or not?
Fit a low coolant alarm and you have a good chance of protecting the cylinder head which is expensive.

Re: Haydn Coolant Alarm False Alert
If that doesn’t work then look at electrics as suggested above.

Re: Coolant alarm
You say you topped up with water and a bit came out......you must not fill the tank to the top. If you can’t see the level through the side of tank, get a dry stick and put it vertically into the tank (when cold) you should get only 2 centimetres of wet stick when you remove it....any more and you m...

Re: Coolant alarm
Spot on Bob, the temp alarms default top temp is 100c , as you say you can exceed that after a run and stopped. Read the alarm instructions and set the trigger point to 105c.

Re: Coolant alarm
In the past 10 years we have not had a low coolant alarm returned broken, as far as I know we have 100% reliability. The only known problem is fresh red 5 year coolant which seems to coat the screw for a couple of weeks after a coolant change. It seems a lifetime ago when along with help from member...

Re: Coolant alarm
Crimp connectors or best of all solder,
Your best bet might be to rip the alarm out and refit following the instructions supplied by us.
Failing that check every joint and fix any loose ones.

Re: Coolant alarm
Hi, the alarm should only beep when you turn the ignition on and again when you turn key to start, the only other time you should hear it is when the coolant is low. New Red antifreeze can cause problems but not what’s happening to you. Weak coolant, same as above. Are you sure it’s the coolant alar...

Re: Haydn Engine Temp TM2 not reading temperature?
Not a good idea to cut the sensor wire ! It’s a shielded wire and this should be maintained after rejoining .
