Re: Remote locking, fobs & blades...

You may want to think twice about changing to keyless locking after reading this http://www.crypto.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/imperia/md/content/texte/publications/conferences/africacrypt2009_keeloq.pdf Read the sections relating to attack and eavesdropping on keyless systems. If they can hack your computer...

Re: Help! Bongo power loss

Grex, you have described exactly what happened to mine after I put rather a lot of KTC soya oil in the tank. Just wouldn't do hills or pulling away smartly.

Have you done something similar?

Cured immediately (touch wood) by filling to the brim with neat diesel.

Re: Blown Radiator

Thanks for that Kirsty. I shall be patient and wait a while. Might have a go at a zener, but if I've got to poke around anyway may as well have the alarm facility as well. I'm also getting a bit old in the eyes and value my leisure time too much for making things myself nowadays. Have made up a brea...

Does he hide the"button" when they are out of stock?
That might explain it!

Re: Blown Radiator

Kirsty, I have followed the link to the alarm on more than one occasion but I have yet to work out where the "button below" is to order one. If I could find it I would have ordered one weeks ago!

Re: Leaky fuel pump

I've got to do mine very soon, so a big thankyou to Dandywarhol for the step by step guide. Meanwhile I've cut the top off a plastic drink bottle (a ridged one that takes a thin wire round it without dropping down) this is wired to a handy pipe nearby. Amazingly it hasn't melted and is slowly fillin...

Re: Overheat on startup

I'd have to look up how to do it, but if you put a zener diode in the meter circuit you can expand the scale to read only the range which matters. Rather than being electronically dumbed down, the existing circuit already comes dumbed down by its lack of sophistication. A good comparison would be a ...

Re: Overheat on startup

Deb, the clue could lie in the words "France" and "Plymouth". Did you by any chance have to drive slowly up a boneshaking ramp on the ferry? In which case a connector could have been shaken to shuggery. Most of the faults I have enjoyed were brought on by the ramp on the Commodor...

Re: Tyres - does it matter?

Mine came with 205s all round (steel wheels, not alloys) and I have since replaced like with like. Handles well. Brakes well. Not bogged down - yet. It is a tin-top which presumably weighs less especially as I normally have one row of seats removed and no camper furniture. Keeps it versatile that way!

Re: Electric Blinds

"I was going to insert a picture ..." I got all excited for a minute, thinking that's a good idea, you could have nice pastoral, mountain or marine scenes to look at when the blinds are down. Even perhaps something saucy! Frank Not a real Diplomat. It just says it on the back instead of Bo...

Re: Round 'Thingy'! On the dashboard!

I guess it was me who "progressed" the discussion from round thingies to aircon pumps! Points taken. I will run in now and then - when I'm going down a hill and remember about it. If it slows the tickover does that mean I am using less fuel? There's a thought. I just read on an allied thre...

Re: Round 'Thingy'! On the dashboard!

Like M80NGO Iam not an aircon person. Is there any technical reason not to uncouple the aircon pump thereby saving wear and tear? I appreciate that it only really presents much load when in use. I just feel that if I don't need it and there is a possbility of it seizing up some time it would be bett...

Re: 12v kettle usage???

Couldn't agree more about using a flask - surprised it took so long to get suggested. However I would go for a glass one. They stay hot much longer. Keep it wrapped in a small airline type fleece blanket for added insulation and protection. If we are using gas, or a mains travel kettle (on hook up),...
