Re: Bongo weather innit !
I'm comfortably warm here wearing shorts, T shirt and sandals at the moment in Scarbororough at 29C. Going for a 30 minute bus ride to a beach near Plymouth to swim in the sea for most of the day. Haven't seen a Bongo here in T and T for several years but there is a multitude of other lovely Japanes...

Re: IT support and Chocolate Teapots
XP suits me just fine. Loved it even more since updates finished, I can switch off my laptops quickly now! I've got a couple of machines running 7 but I don't like the sound mixer interface on that and haven't yet found a way of installing the XP version. I can't get on with 'App' culture and multi ...

Re: lens for rear right lights
Don't bin the old one. It should be repairable. I've thought about using a precision cutting tool like a Dremel disc to make a neat aperture and then fit in a precision cut piece of any roughly suitable lens from a breaker. Then put that assembly back on ready for the next mishap and keep the perfec...

Re: Rear vs side conversion -storage space?
I have always fancied a built in, under (middle seat) draw. Can anybody advise who can make and fit one of these? A large and a medium supermarket fruit box do the job admirably. They cost nothing, fit snugly, don't rattle and can easily be replaced when they get a bit worn. My nearside one, the sm...

Re: Bongo hire in New Zealand
Currently they appear to have Estimas and the superb 12 seater HiAce (one of which I would love to have here once Brexit is accomplished). Aren't they available here without Brexit then? Ah. Must be another Brexit falacy then... https://www.gumtree.com/p/vans/toyota-hiace-12-seater-minibus-300gs-lw...

Worth checking that the filter is done up tight.

Ace rentals at Auckland airport used to have Bongos in their fleet. Currently they appear to have Estimas and the superb 12 seater HiAce (one of which I would love to have here once Brexit is accomplished). New Zealand has plenty of Japanese people carriers similar to the Spaceship fleet for rental....

Re: 2 stroke oil
Could one reason for an engine sounding quieter be that there is less of an explosion taking place and consequently there will be less power developed? I'm one who always imagines that the Bongo seems quieter and smoother on veg oil but having tried to move on from the antique measurements called mi...

Re: Tiny Jump-Starter Pack
I guess that what they really do is help the main starter battery revive enough to start the vehicle. With all we read about the danger of shorting Lithium ion batteries, I don't think I would like to give it a Bongo starting job all on its own. Nevertheless, if I find myself with 50 quid burning a ...

Your initial sums stack up. i.e The standard fronts ( 195/65R15 ) rotate about 1% more than the standard rears (215/65R15) assuming equal wear With 205's on the front, they rotate about 2% more than the standard rears, assuming equal wear. 5mm wear off the front raises the difference to about 2.3% ...

Also, bear in mind that if you replace the radiator, don't throw away the 'bung' with the old radiator. My new radiator came without any cap.Northern Bongolow wrote:hi leon, the rad cap is just a bung to seal the rad it doesnt act as a vent or anything, as long as the cap is on tight its fine.

Do you actually need 8 seats?
I enjoy a reduction with Adrian Flux having removed a row of seats (the back one) and declaring it as a 5 seater.
This also has the advantage that i can turn down suggestions by other people that I should transport them and their kids around.
