Re: Bongo blind pattern template

I used the old ones for templates and a couple of dunelm blackouts to do this. Cutting the edges and avoiding any fraying was probably the hardest bit. Way better than the originals though (although I have to admit their sewing is marginally better :D ) and have followed me to my 2nd bongo too 2DA29...

Re: Solar panels fitting kit

Does the tin top have roof bar mounting points like the AFT? I just made some brackets and attached - did this the same way on previous one too - I’m not keen on the stick down with glue approach. Thought about single 200w panel as it would just fit but despite best efforts couldn’t really find anyw...

Re: No power in rear socket

As I’m now the owner of gripped’s bongo I can answer and the answer was to run a new live and earth. I’ve since connected them to my other 12v sockets circuit now it has my conversion in

Re: Rear heater air con

Yeps it’s a big space alright, I had originally planned for 2nd leisure battery and water in mine but given accessibility being side conversion I just ended up storing the fridge compressor and a bit of pipe work down there

Re: gas drop vent

...I still have half of it unused... Same, got fridge compressor down there and just pipe work for water drain and gas drop Only problem is it’s now really hard to get to as one of the advantages of removing the heater was that I could extend my floor Still trying to find somewhere to put my heater...

Re: gas drop vent

Both Bongo’s full side conversion, first it was at the back not far from boot already done when I bough it, sealed into locker itself. 196D5FB2-1B43-4F7C-A673-35003E47F55B.jpeg Second I’ve removed rear heater matrix so just used one of the nice holes Mazda made for me to run from inside locker outsi...

Re: Fridge fitting question

I have a waeco crx50 but my kitchen is self built with cutlery draw above so no height restriction. In previous bongo the rear heater was still in place but disconnected (the machinery you mention) and in the new one I’ve removed it completely and put the fridge compressor down in its place as it’s ...

Re: DVLA Regulations: thinking of converting your van?

My previous bongo I reclassified, took everything out of it and put it in new one which I now can’t reclassify - hah :D

Insurance weren’t bothered, I just had to sign a form to say that it has been converted and met previous dvla guidelines, bed, fridge, sink etc and price was same, all good

Re: Mazda bongo V6 feeling really hot to drive

I recently made the jump from a 4wd diesel to 2wd v6 and it’s fair to say they are completely different in nature, the old diesel actually felt faster and you could pull out of junctions with your foot down. However when you look at the Speedo it tells another story, the petrol feels a bit lacking b...

Re: Tent roof rails pulling out of AFT

This sounds like a common issue although it only happened to me on removal. The screws are in the holder things and the holder things are epoxied into the roof. I separated the holders from the screws by clamping in vice and then glued them back in, there is a tip about just putting epoxy on the sid...

Re: Cabin light fittings - can you swap the U shape bulb fitting for the straight bulb one?

I’ve got bongos with both. Old straight tube was swapped out for LEDs internally a few years back but the whole light just swapped over fine in place of u-shaped unit. Only difference I noticed was physically the u-shaped unit on my newer bongo was a few mm wider than the old one but it was neither ...

I posted a reply to someone else by quoting the workshop manual, a picture would probably go a long way but maybe this might be enough....

Re: Few Bodywork Questions

Regarding the wings, the seam is in a stupid place in my opinion (I’m no car designer though) and not much metal to start with. I think once it starts rusting, you’ll be able to kill and cover up for a while but eventually it’ll need a new wing if you want to get it back to former glory
