Re: Pirelli scorpion a/t plus tyres

I had some general grabber at2’s, remember them being a tad noisy but that’s to be expected as they’re not normal road tyres. Mine was 4wd with lsd didn’t really need the grabbers which were replaced with normal premium road tyres, went everywhere I tried to take it - 25% gradient 6 inches of snow n...

Re: Front washers not working...

Pretty easy to remove the fluid bottle, just a couple of 10mm bolts, just be careful once they’re out to unclip the hose runs as you pull it up carefully - as mentioned definitely easier with LB and tray out of the way

You could put your finger through to the passenger footwell carpet, sold it but had a plate welded over it as far as I know

Re: Removable fly netting repair

I think so long as the existing one isn’t in too many pieces then it should be easy enough to get it right. I made a template out of a load of sheets of paper so I could pin and cut the new netting. You do need to make sure the tent is back in the frame carefully though as the back corners under the...

Re: Removable fly netting repair

I removed mine and replaced the entire netting myself. Took a little while and end result was good until you look very closely at the stitching as the sewing machine had a hard time getting through the material and keeping tension. Took a couple of attempts to find the best netting for the job, firs...

Re: Anyone considered an induction hob ... ?

I spent some time trying to find an option to not have to bother with gas, when we go away we tend to use charcoal bbq and eat out so our smev sees little use. Plus if we wanted to cook a full English we’d do it outside on tiny Coleman f1 portable gas stove rather than greasing up the bongo... As I ...

Re: Rear Lights - Rear Door

I didn’t even know there were any lights on the boot door except number plate, I thought it was just reflective. I’ll have to go have a look now :?: I went to look and oh yeh there are lights :D :D Previous bongo didn’t have them, got a bit of water in one of the clear ones, will have to see if I c...

Re: Air con cuts out in very hot weather

As the aircon works most of the time and everything is static except the compressor it does seem like the compressor clutch is maybe failing to engage in hot weather. It’s pretty easy to check as you should be able to hear / feel it engage when you turn AC on and off (at least in mine you can) Only ...

Re: Air conditioning diagnosing

What’s a bit contradictory here is you’re are talking about aircon and “clips”, sure there are clips that hold the pipe work in place along its path but there are no clips in AC pipe work itself, all fittings are hold by screws or screw fittings. The AC and heaters are completely independent in term...

I can relate to this (I’m sure many of us can), custom build a gas locker for new conversion instead of wood cupboard from old one, measured up but found it wouldn’t quite fit through cupboard door, had to remove most of the conversion to get it in!!

Re: I have no router

I guess if you don’t have a router it’s unlikely you have a rebate plane although 2mm is pretty small for that I think this could be accomplished with a couple of saws alongside each other to make up the 2mm width (assuming that’s the rebate width). I’d probably guide the saws with a block of wood. ...

Re: What made you Bongo?

I inherited a 1997 2.5TD 4Wd AFT when my dad moved to France (MoT seemed like a faff) and at first I thought what is this heap of purple crap :D Then I got in it and loved it, alright it was a little noisy but it was comfy and good to drive. I ripped out the dated conversion put in a new one I spent...

Re: Installing noise suppression in the engine access panels

I have some dodo mat hex attached to mine, it’s self self adhesive as are most vehicle foams and sound insulation. I haven’t thought about attaching some closed cell foam but I’ve got loads of the kiravans silver stuff left over (7mm I think) so could do (if you’re anywhere near Sheffield you’re wel...

Re: Wiring through the bulkhead

I’m sure you could certainly come up with a better solution but I’ve just put a sharp small screwdriver through the existing grommit and fed the wire through. The grommit is well shielded from water etc so I deemed this suitable, a bit of silicon could be used but the holes I made look suitable seal...
