Re: Importing a bongo

Might be easier to drive one out of Russia? I know they are very popular over there. Failing that I’d expect there is a market for other JDM stuff somewhere in Poland - skylines etc just like every other country so there will be someone with the know how to get it into the country and registered

Re: Bak-Rak Rear Storage

Fitting a decent towbar to the bongo is a bit of faff especially if it’s seen any rust in its 20 years +. The good ones require you to drill through chassis rail on near side to provide extra support - problem is that there’s only about 20cm clearance for the drill and bit is 18mm diameter- not many...

Re: V6 rocker gasket replacement

Still working on this, drivers side gasket was obviously knackered but I’ve also found what the previous owner described as a broken cam cap. Luckily the description was slightly worse than the actual problem I found. It was damaged when he got the cambelt changed, it looks to me like the garage tri...

Re: V6 rocker gasket replacement

Thanks, I did get it off exactly as you described actually, loosening air pipes and fuel lines. I dropped a bolt from passenger side oil line that I loosened and to retrieve it I loosened off intake manifold anyway so refitting should be a tiny bit easier. I’ve got to fix slight coolant leak from th...

Re: V6 rocker gasket replacement

Rang bongo spares, intake manifold needs slackening off. Have my answer, now just need to work out if it’s a job for tonight in the dark or save for the weekend - oh how I wish I had a garage!

Re: V6 rocker gasket replacement

Thanks, I managed to find another thread which confirmed the same, just remains of the rubber from the washers

Now is there anyway to get the driver side off without dismantling half the top of the engine? Seems to be struggling to get enough clearance

V6 rocker gasket replacement

Replacing the rocker gasket on my v6 as I have a slight weep and wanted to have a look around to make sure everything looked ok. Got new gasket and washers but I think there is supposed to be some spacers on the bolts to stop the gasket being over tightened. There were the remains of 3 of these in v...

Re: Diesel Heater in 2L petrol

It’s attached to black bracket you can see to left of air shroud thing. Its just a bit of aluminium with a couple of folds to add a bit of stiffness. Some of the weight will undoubtably be taken up by the engine air intake too as it does sit on it

Re: Locate suitable power feed for relay switch

Thanks guys, need a relay because it’s 25A and the instructions say so to support 240 and 12v. Given the draw I’d only like it to be able to be switched on whilst the engine is running. In case anyone is wondering, it’s an electric calorifier. I would have preferred one connected to coolant loop but...

Locate suitable power feed for relay switch

I would like to power something but only when engine is running. Using a relay but where can I find something suitable to use for the switch feed? Relay in back, switch in front ideally

Thanks

Re: Diesel Heater in 2L petrol

The EGR tank moved - I’ve seen other installs where this wasn’t necessary and everything was just squeezed in but because I wanted to route outlet to center console this was the best way for me 171263BA-8766-4722-93C4-6F780CB6DC48.jpeg Finished setup (pending longer air intake hose, old one wasn’t l...

Re: Diesel Heater in 2L petrol

I’ve just finished install in my v6 under passenger seat. Had to move the EGR tank you highlighted plus ignition coil and some wiring which sits in the same area on the v6. Tank is a 2.5l plastic sat between battery and aircon, just above air intake under bonnet I’ll get you a couple of pictures tom...

Re: Diesel Heater

Mine was slightly different, 90 degree outlet at either end, intake facing down to allow the vent to be a bit lower down, hot air out pointing towards exhaust manifold area and then to middle of center console. Hose melted first time round on exhaust but after some extra heat proofing it was fine. I...

Re: Mazdabongocampervans.co.uk - any experience

I went to see a couple of bongos at the York guy, they were clearly all well selected examples but there was a lack of clarity when it came to Japanese paperwork and auction sheets and because he didn’t answer with enough conviction either way I walked away. Now maybe this was because I’d seen Phil ...
