Re: No Hot Air in Heaters

While not specific to this issue or this thread exactly, I recently took the rear heater out of my loop and the bongo seems happier. It didn’t have a cooling problem before, main radiator replaced a couple of years back, hoses changed etc. I did buy a new front matrix just before and had planned to ...

Re: Any Particular Type

I bought one from eBay and from what I remember it has quite a lot of bolts and that some of them attach to the chassis rails and not just the cross member. I will see if I can dig out more detail but mine only ever carries a bike carrier so it’s it’s not quite the same as a caravan. Given the reaso...

Re: Rear AC EVAPORATOR DELETE

Hello Alkers One point to fill with gas and one to remove, both of which are at the front . Still can't work out if simply blanking off both rear pipes feeding the rear evaporator will do the job or do I need to loop them , I don't know a lot about AC systems  Brian Blanking them off is what y...

Re: Advice on rear arches

Thanks guys that looks like a decent option, my Dad was pretty good with fibre glass (kit cars) so I'll see what he has to say. I checked the paperwork and actually it was the inner and outer sills that were replaced about 2 years ago. Will get a cost for replacement from a local chap too (Bongo Wor...

Advice on rear arches

Hi all, I've had a read around and of course there are many topics about rust on rear arches but I decided to investigate mine this weekend - they have a plastic trim over them normally. I'm sure they were only replaced a couple of years ago by previous owner https://i.ibb.co/zZF9CbK/file1-7.jpg htt...

Re: Rear AC EVAPORATOR DELETE

wonder if there is a Mazda blanking kit For mine, part numbers are S09C618D4A and S09D618D4A but would have been of no use. It was impossible to undo the fittings, even after I cut out the pipe and got in my vice with several minutes of heat (as a trial run for the front one I need to undo), all I ...

Re: Rear AC EVAPORATOR DELETE

I’m attempting the same job this weekend. Well actually mine is a bit more involved as I’m replacing a pipe at the front as existing one was damaged, full set of new seals and a new receiver dryer as AC has been open to atmosphere for a couple of months. I plan to cap the rear off in the location al...

I'll take a guess and use some gearing mesh marking compound and see what it looks like

Re: Converting a 2WD to a 4WD

Also, if you you're 2WD has an open diff, try and find a limited slip instead second hand. It will potentially double your drive / traction in slippy situations, no substitute for the actual grip of winter vs summer tyres but useful all the same

Re: Winter tyres

I have 2 sets of tyres for both my Mazda 3 and my Bongo. This means I have to pay the garage everytime I swap them! I wasn't expecting my keep my 3 this long otherwise I would have bought a seperate set of wheels! I've only got stuck once in snow with winters on a FWD car and the Bongo with winters ...

Rear Differential Backlash Spec

Hi, I recently bought a second hand LSD for my Bongo and gave it a good cleanup inside and out. I've come to reassemble it within the carrier but don't know where to find the backlash specification for it. Does anyone know what the acceptable value range is?

Thanks

Re: Finding the aircon leak

Made a start on this today, compressor is fine. One of the o-rings from its pipework was a little degraded where it meets the main pipework. It was cold outside and I have no means of getting the vehicle off the ground so progress is slow. It has raised the following questions - Blanking rear-air co...

Finding the aircon leak

Hi guys, I need some general advice on getting my aircon up and running again. Owned the bongo 2 years, aircon never worked. Got it regassed after pressure test showed no problems and was great - for a week 8) I've traced all the pipe work which from my understanding might show an oil leak if there ...
