Re: Urgent: break pads and disks in France

Hi barbapapa,
Try using the LushProjects parts diagrams to locate the parts you need, then put the part number into google. For instance, rear pad set (49-280A) shows interchangeability with a number of different Mazda & Isuzu part numbers. Good hunting!!

Re: 240v Hook-up location

I'm with you on not cutting any holes in the van. Mine is one of these: https://www.jacksonsleisure.com/caravan-motorhome/electrical/mains-hook-up/maypole-surface-mounting-caravan-motorhome-mains-electrical-inlet/ mounted next to the O/S/R foglamp bracket, I had a towbar already fitted which facilit...

Re: Waste water outlet

Good point Bob! I have a rear conversion so my sink is at the back so a routing to the back is what I'm looking at. I think if I could drill through the floor somewhere and have a flat container under the van, that would be good. The flat container you're after is a 'wastemaster' - here's one on Gu...

Re: Headlamp beam deflectors

See that the Halfords list includes Bongos, but only from 03/2005 onwards. Didn't think there were many built after that. Would the beam pattern be the same on a 1999 van?

...we used to go out on a dark night and find a deserted, straight, level, road, then experiment with black pvc tape. But that was back when you could find such a road... :? Thanks for the link Bob. We've got plenty of roads like that round here, just have to mind out for owls and the odd poacher :...

Headlamp beam deflectors

I'm off to France for 8 months in a few weeks' time - nearly forgot that I will need to adjust the dip beam pattern for driving on the right. Have used 'eurolites' on other vehicles before but have no idea where the beam deflectors would need to be stuck on the headlamp 'glass' (read discoloured pla...

Re: Changing V5 category to 'Motor Caravan'

Hi. I'm looking at changing the v5 to a motorhome aswell. Just wondering if the middle seats would technically qualify as a table? Thanks Jay Don't forget that to qualify as a motor caravan it needs certain other 'habitation' items that a non-converted Bongo doesn't have, such as a storage locker, ...

Sounds like the gearbox inhibitor switch - here's a recent thread on this problem:

Useful comments but it's all booked on the ferry now. As you say, shuttle is very convenient as you're straight onto the autoroute.

Re: Head gasket gone

Going off topic a bit, but interested to know how long a Bongo can be kept on the road? IE. if all the 'camper' bells and whistles continue to work - what would induce you to scrap it? Are there repairs to the framework which be prohibitively costly? People say 'it's more than the van's worth', but...

Re: Cross-channel ferries

When I last booked a crossing there was no difference in price between car and motorhome unless you go over 6m in overall length or certain height which does not affect a Bongo unless you have a trailer to push you over 6m. The only comment when I turned up on the day was you have gas and they aske...

Cross-channel ferries

Am looking to book a Dover-Calais ferry crossing for this August. Do the ferry companies consider a converted Bongo 'motor caravan' as a car, van or motorhome, as the tickets all cost different amounts? Don't want to get the wrong one and then get kicked off or charged more at the port! Has anyone g...
