Re: Passenger Elec Mirror & window not working...Advice??
If it works from the driver's switch I would suspect the switch or loom on the passy side. As it is affecting two things with separate switches I would look to the loom I think. It is possible but unlikely that you have two faulty switches of course. You really need a circuit diagram to identify the...

Re: Solder Butt Connectors
They look very useful, I wouldn't mind getting some of those. I replaced the door loom on mine but I wouldn't try and repair it in situ, once the door card and wheel well cover is off it is much easier to unplug the loom and repair it on the kitchen table and make the joints where they aren't flexin...

Re: Temporary brake failure Any ideas as to the cause?
jack up each wheel and make sure they spin. A binding brake could cause the fluid to overheat and boil. Dust could concievably cause a piston to stick I suppose.

Re: The dreaded hold light
There is a diagnostic socket under the glove box. shorting certain pins will cause the hold light to flash a fault code. The fault code is stored for five starts after each fault indicated and then resets. The interpretation of the code is in the Fact sheets in the Members Section and elsewhere on t...

Re: how far was your longest trip in a bongo
Plymouth Santander out, drove to Silver Coast, Portugal then back up to St Malo through Spain and France. Did similar last year but explored the Picos de Europa instead of going to Portugal. This year we went to the North Coast of Scotland and toured around the highlands. Bongo performed thankfully ...

Re: Starter motor intermittent problem
Put a 12v bulb or multimeter between chassis as the wire that feeds solenoid. If it shows power when you turn the key then you can eliminate imobiliser / inhibitor issues. Thing is, if I did this I know the problem wouldn't occur until, of course, I removed the test gear. The Bongo has only not sta...

Re: Snapped rear anti roll link in Portugal, parts?
I can send you one, no problem, just phone the office. There are various postage options available, but BE WARNED we will only offer this service to paid-up members of the club. After all you wouldn't phone the AA if you weren't a member, would you? But you might be able to source one locally. The ...

Re: Electric hook up in France
If you are quick with a screw driver it might be worth just buying a French earthed domestic plug from Leclerc and replacing the commando plug with it as needed. I guess it would be a pain if you were doing short stops. I have camped at about 6 sites in France using one of those hook-ups and only fo...

Re: Rear cigar lighter help.
Thanks for the responses. I wish I had spotted the issue with the rear socket before. Looks like it's more of a repair than changing a fuse then. When I upgraded my wiring I replaced the standard socket with a Marine one and added a 2pin DIN for the fridge as well. You do have to enlarge the hole f...

Re: 3 way fridge
I think people are referring to putting their gas fridges in a tent of their own - i.e. a storage tent, to keep it dry. Would the tent then not just eventually fill up with Carbon Monoxide? I doubt it very much - most storage tents have gaps around the bottom. Even if it was fully sealed, the CO wo...

Re: Leisure battery ammeter question
It will indeed be showing rubbish if you have a common earth in which your measuring the current from both batteries! One could be charging and the the other discharging and the results will tend to cancel out! You need to fit the shunt in the earth running to the specific battery you want to measu...

Re: Tailgate gas struts
I made a happy discovery, The bed struts WILL carry the matress as long as the hatch is folded towards the back of the van, which it is on mine since I have been keeping it open to ventilate the AFT. So the plastic pipe trick isn't needed ATM but handy to know all the same.

Re: Caravanstore awning
Rail's on, bedded in Sikaflex and screwed down with Stainless steel countersunk M4 screws. Going to leave it 48hrs for the Sikaflex to set as the last 125mm of rail is fixed solely by Sikaflex as you can't get the drill under the AFT right at the back.

Re: Caravanstore awning
Kitchen finally finished indoors, Bongo Fettling to the fore. I have finally got round to the awning. Did a trial fit dry last night, had to slot a couple of the holes in the rail because my drilling for the rivnuts was a bit sloppy and ran out of time. next step is to refit it with Sikaflex. The ba...

Re: dashboard squeak, driving me nuts
I bought a packet of self adhesive foam pads from Tesco Yellow "Keep it Handy" range and put two of the big square ones (stacked)on each dashboard end. they deform slightly when the door shuts against them and more or less stop the noise. I think it might be symptomatic of some slight give...
