Re: Hook up input socket

There is infinite scope for imaginative layouts. My consumer unit is on the fitment my fridge sits on at the bottom rear of the sliding door. Directly below it I have a surface mounted inlet with a waterproof cap. It is high enough up to cope with most floods, easy to reach and invisible to the casu...

Re: Expansion Tank Pressure when cold.

What did the water level then settle at? Has there been any work done or topping up recently? Where you parked on level ground?

Ta for that. I will bear it in mind. I have a 10A charger but it does have a little brain unfortunately so can sometimes refuse to play if it detects anything unexpected.

Re: Charge 2 batteries

Its not possible to say directly it depends on what sort of Split Charge Relay is fitted. If its a Voltage Sensitive Relay, then charging just the Starter battery should charge both, provided the charger voltage does exceed the voltage trip point for the Split charge Relay. If the Split Charge Rela...

Re: Adding heating to interior!

In the Uk it can get cold enough for it to be useful any time of year but we have mostly used ours for getting dressed in the morning or watching films at night, Scotland in June would not have been much fun without it the weeks we went. A lot of people would have given up and gone home but it wa on...

Re: Adding heating to interior!

I bought an Airtop 2000 secondhand from ebay and had it fitted by a Webasto specialist. It is highly effective. I think if I was doing it again I would ask the guy at the Webasto specialist if they had any secondhand ones, might get a better deal on supply and fit. Quite easy to fit yourself if you ...

Re: Radiator blown, will cylinder head follow?

It is a lottery, every case is different. If air got into the head water jacket while the engine was running and already hot the chances of distortion and cracks or even a meltdown is fairly high I would think. You may well be lucky, fingers crossed.

Re: Runs hot under load..

If it hasn't been pruned there is a thread on here somewhere that gives all the parameters orf the cooling system, thermostat control range temperatures and fan cut in temp as well as animated circulation diagrams etc. I think Widowson put a lot of work into it among others. There is no harm in hav...

Re: Runs hot under load..

Not to sure about what temps that thermostat open/close - my experience suggests that thermostats are fully opened @ 98 degree and boiling point with a good 50/50 mixture is 106/107 degrees. Maybe it was a stuck thermostat. Has it happened again? It shouldn't boil at 106 in the engine, surely the p...

Re: Passenger Elec Mirror & window not working...Advice??

I have not removed any wire insulation .. but all of the wires seem quite 'stiff' .. and not so soft / flexible as 'normal' car wires generally seem .. Is this usual ..?? The wires have probably stiffened with age, Copper does stiffen and the plastic insulation goes hard over time. This is why I ch...

Re: optimising fridge and battery

When you say it draws 5V, do you mean the voltage drops to 5V? First thing, what sort of fridge? 2nd thing, are you using the rear 12V Socket? If it has the standard Mazda wiring it will be too weedy for most fridges and coolboxes, only good for charging phones etc IMO which would account for the bi...
