Re: Back after a bit of a break

Thanks chaps :). Just trawling thru my photos and found one of Bongo 'office' from last year. Now I've got a proper driveway I can plug the van in on hookup which is a luxury compared to my last house. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j221/simonjones99/Forum%202014/IMG_20170619_45492_zpsuawlhiu0.jpg

Back after a bit of a break

Just saying 'hi' as I've been off the Bongo scene since last summer as we've been busy doing bits to our new (well, 600 year old) house which seems to have taken up all my spare time. I'm taking a break from decorating and working in the garden to come up to Stourport for the weekend so I look forwa...

Re: speedo dial

As I recall, two screws to release the binnacle (the curvy bit with the switches) and then 4 screws to remove the instrument panel. You may have to disconnect any switches you have in the 3 locations either side and drop the steering wheel to its lowest adjustment. No need to disconnect battery but ...

Re: Air lift bags on a side conversion

Screwfix do spring compressors for about £18 and are essential to get the bags in without risking damage. The pipes should go downwards and along to wherever you decide to put the valve(s). I used a T-piece and fitted the valve inside the wheelarch but tucked out the way of all the mud and water. ht...

Re: Wynn's coolant system flush

The trouble with flushing into the bleed pipe is that it's at the top of the system so it's not back-flushing at all. Ideally, you need to feed water in at several different points while letting out of different points too so you give everything a real good stirring. I knocked up this crude device s...

Re: Map of LPG stations

Found a pic of the two French adapters. I think the bad one is on the left. The O-ring is too big so gets compressed and distorted which forms a poor seal. Got the other one at a motorway service station and it worked perfectly. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j221/simonjones99/Bongo%20technical/I...

Re: V6 Noisy Engine & Oily Plug

Are you sure it's compatible? Don't similar vintage MX6's have the KL series engine rather than the J5? Sounds like an interesting project though :).

Re: Map of LPG stations

I use the FillLPG app on my Android phone. Automatically updates prices and locations, as well as displaying all stations within a specified radius and links to Googlemaps for sat nav. If you go to Skye, the Coop just over the bridge had the cheapest in the area last time I was up that way. For Fran...

Re: radiator fans,some advice please

That's normal. They just run when the A/C needs it. You may even find that the A/C itself is switching off and on as you will hear the engine revs increase when the compressor engages.

Re: Absorption fridge not cooling...

Your beer might fall out if you do that :) Absorbtion fridges require a source of heat which is typically electric or gas. If it doesn't work on any of the three sources of heat then I would suspect a problem on the refrigerant side. If you are going to remove it, there should be some manufacturers ...

Re: Checking the Cooling system etc

Have you changed the coolant and brake fluid? Both have a 2 year replacement schedule regardless of use. Maybe once you've had the maiden voyage it would be worth changing both. The anti-corrosion properties of the coolant will be be quite weak by now and the brake fluid absorbs moisture over time w...

Re: 2017 Venues: Nominations Required

The drawback of Wellington is that the pitches are in the woods and widely spread out so it's not so great for people to socialise. The walk to the local pub through the forest in the dark is also not for the feint-hearted! A long while back, there was a Southern Softies at Hurley http://www.hurleyr...
